IBM sees more growth in India
< 13 Oct, 2006 1202hrs ISTREUTERS >

BANGALORE: IBM , the world's largest computer services company, aims to increase its share of business in India as banks, retail and small and medium-sized firms spend more on technology in Asia's fourth-largest economy.

IBM's business in India grew 45 per cent on the year in the April-June quarter, the fastest for that period of IBM's emerging market business, as telecoms, banks and services ramped up spending on computer hardware and services to spur expansion in the growing economy.

"India is the fastest-growing market we have got in IBM today," Michael Cannon-Brookes, vice president for business development in China and India, said in an interview at the company's sprawling campus in India's tech hub.

"We look at it (as a) high-growth, hyper-growth market. The industry here is going through dramatic transformation. As a result of this, there are just a lot of changes where you really want an innovative approach."

1. Laying off here in Austin.
Seeing more shrinkage in America.

IBM , the world's largest computer services company, aims to decrease its share of business in America as banks, retail and small and medium-sized firms spend less on technology in America's largest economy.

"We look at it (as a) low-growth, micro-growth market. The industry here is going through dramatic transformation. As a result of this, there are just a lot of changes where you really want an innovative approach."

We intend to fire all the stupid bastards and replace them with H-1b workers who will work for a fraction of the cost, after they train their replacements of course. Our "innovative approaches" know no limits, Cannon-Brookes smiled and continued. I hope all the simple bastards enjoy the cold nights in their cardboard boxes and enjoy success in their future endeavors, janitorial, fast food preparation, or whatever other line of work they choose to apply their expensive college engineering educations toward.

Of course, if they are lucky, perhaps they can get retrained for the "jobs of the future" whatever those are, and repeat this heartbreaking process several more times in their miserable lifetimes for the benefits of Corporate fat cats such as myself. I dearly hope they choose the latter course of action and continue to enrich those us at the top of the socio-economic spectrum further.

3. I Be Moving ... overseas
Bye bye IBM. Don't let the door hit you in the CPU on the way out. IBM also just opened a huge factory in China too. When the Democrats take over congress we need to tax these traitor companies heavily.

This message and art was make on a MAC.

4. So a US based company invests in India
and, as a consequence, stands to make billions of dollars in revenue. As the article stated, half of IBM's revenue comes from information technology consulting and outsourcing. This keeps IBM back-office services in the US busy, and it is good for the shareholders. What is wrong with this scenario?

IBM Shifts Global Procurement Headquarters to China

IBM (NYSE:IBM) today announced the relocation of its global procurement headquarters to Shenzhen, China as the company continues its strategy to draw more efficiently on its global capabilities and capitalize on emerging market opportunities.

The decision to move Chief Procurement Officer John Paterson’s office from Somers, NY, to China marks the first time the headquarters of an IBM corporate-wide organization has been located outside the U.S. This move illustrates a shift underway at IBM from a multinational corporation to a new model — a globally integrated enterprise.

7. Well, that is where the production is anyways
The huge untapped market for IBM products is Asia. Establishing itself there is the best long-term business move. It makes it a dominant player in the market. Good for US operations, good for shareholders, good for governments collecting corporate tax.

5. Same is true for G.E. they are planning to export 10% of their jobs per..
year to overseas companies. My question is if the jobs are all overseas who will have the money to buy them here? There should be a big big tariff on goods made overseas, by american companies, and shipped to this country for resale.
