League of Women Voters Wants Sen. Allen Ad Pulled
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The of League of Women Voters of Virginia demanded Tuesday that Republican U.S. Sen. George Allen to pull a campaign ad in which the league says he improperly uses footage from an Oct. 9 televised debate.

Both Allen's campaign and that of Democratic opponent Jim Webb agreed not to use clips from the debate in their campaign ads - something the league insists on so candidates feel free to speak openly and to protect the league's status as a nonpartisan entity, said Anne Kanter, the league's voter development director.

The Allen ad shows a clip of Webb saying during the debate, "We kid ourselves if we don't say that we meed more revenues," and makes the accusation that Webb will raise taxes if elected.

Webb spokesman Kristian Denny Todd said Webb's comment refers to his desire to close corporate tax loopholes. "Jim knows we can generate billions of dollars in revenue without raising taxes on a single Virginia family," she said in a statement.

Allen campaign spokesman Dick Wadhams said the Webb campaign broke the agreement first because the liberal Raising Kaine blog, which receives funding from the Webb campaign, was providing links to debate footage. He said the ad will not be pulled.

2. I hope they sue his ass.
I guess that's just one more example of his fine, upstanding, honorable self.

5. Yeah, the blog footage was a YouTube link. That's not considered
to be a campaign donation -yet, though repubs would like it to be. It isn't codified so far anyway. There's no parity! I hope the LoW can take some action.

6. Allen is an unprincipled creep
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 09:52 PM by Mz Pip
Too bad such a huge number of Virginia voters don't see him for what he is, an unprincipled racist twit.

I want to see him lose, but the "Ban Gay Marriage" amendment will get the fundies out, just like it did in Ohio in 2004.

Whatever will they do when they can't use gay marriage as a get out the vote strategy? Seems they are getting pretty close to have used that one up.

7. Isn't fitting...
"Allen campaign spokesman Dick Wadhams said..."

Isn't it fitting
that Allen would have a man named DICK WADHAMS as his spokesman. I mean it's not quite as catchy as a name
like "Fuckhead McPantsonfire" but that's probably not as common as the one he's got, and we know that George Allen
and his gang are nothing if not common.

:boring:
