Congresswoman on page board buried file on husband's child abuse allegatio
Congresswoman on page board buried file on husband's child abuse allegation

A file allegedly suppressed by Congresswoman Heather Wilson (R-NM) has been obtained by RAW STORY.

In 1995, just three days into her tenure as Secretary of the New Mexico Children, Youth and Families Department, Wilson removed a routine working file alleging that her husband had engaged in inappropriate contact with a minor. The file was then transferred to the department's attorney in her own Albuquerque office, where it soon went missing.

At the time, a local investigative news team learned about the swap, but could not confirm certain details of the file. They were not able to recover the document itself.

More than ten years later, RAW STORY has uncovered and confirmed the authenticity of the police incident report believed to be contained in the missing dossier. Filed as a case of child abuse in 1993, it contends that Wilson's husband Jay Hone, an Albuquerque attorney, touched a then-16 year old boy "in a manner that was not welcome."

<snip>

In that video, also uncovered by RAW STORY, Wilson is seen flatly denying ordering the removal of the document. The Congresswoman ultimately admitted to doing so in a press conference just days later.

<snip>

Wilson also currently serves on the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children's caucus.

4. Yet more on the Republican's methods of burying skeletons.
If this had been about Sandy B... Instead of reading about this on
RawStory it would be on the scroller over at CNN.

5. Good grief - are there ANY Republicans that aren't abusers in one
form or another? They are all corrupt, and they are all on the take, and will do whatever is necessary to cover their own butts. Disgraceful.

The party of values? Morals? Ethics? BULLSHIT!

7. Reading the report doesn't seem violation
Only violation I see is the Congresswoman removing the file to prevent others from knowing what it contained.

Unless there is more to the statement by the child there isn't anything. Once incident of the guy touching the rear. Was it intentional or not. Based on the report it may not be intentional. If he accidently touched the rear of the boy while reaching for pizza then there is nothing there. Provided it was not with the hand.

Question is are there any other incidents pertaining to the husband involved inappropriately with young kids?

18. Remember, Watergate was just a third-rate burglary. The
COVERUP was the important part, the real crime.

19. At least, what's left of the report to read
You sort of wonder -- at least I wonder -- if this report was so inocuous, why Ms. Wilson bothered to pull it in the first place. And then deny that she had done any such thing. Why not just say, "Yeah, we have a report here. There's really nothing to it; here, read it for yourself." Instead, the file is pulled, the lie is told that nothing of the sort had happened, and then a dozen years later some of the file finally shows up for review. Did we get the complete file? And, as you so perceptively note, is this the only file that was pulled?

10. ...serves on the Congressional Missing and Exploited Children's caucus
What, you get a leg up with regards joining that caucus if you're either a molester or a coverer-upper of alleged molesters in a GOP Congress?

That's just...I dunno...beyond coincidence?

Granted, it is a HUGE caucus (who wants to be AGAINST protecting kids, after all) http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=Congressional_Missing_and_Exploited_Children's_Caucus

....but, DAMN!!!! Will they have to run background checks on all the members, or what?

got a "specialty" position has some fetish associated with that position... right up to the seat of power, our glorious dictator.

12. Kakistocracy
It's in my sig line for a reason. The republicans pick the worst people possible for various jobs. In this case, like Foley, it endagers children to protect power.

15. OMG
Isn't she the one who got so upset about the Janet Jackson breast incident at the Super Bowl that she was practically crying as she questioned the TV execs appearing before her committee? She went on and on about how she didn't want her son to be exposed to things like that.

Since no charges were filed against her husband maybe the accusation was without merit, but she should not have used her position to remove the file.

I believe the latest polls show that she's trailing her Dem opponent. Maybe this will finish her off.
