CNN: FBI: 20-year-old suspected of NFL bomb hoax
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/10/19/nfl.threat/index.html

POSTED: 4:11 p.m. EDT, October 19, 2006

MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin (CNN) -- The FBI and the Department of Homeland Security have determined that a threat against NFL stadiums was a hoax, FBI spokesman Richard Kolko told CNN Thursday.

Earlier, the FBI interviewed and released a Milwaukee man after his friend came forward with information about the online posting of a threat against NFL stadiums. An FBI source told CNN that agents do not believe the man has any connections to terrorism, but do believe the 20-year-old was involved in making the threat. The official refused to divulge what was said during the interview.

A law enforcement official told CNN it was too early to determine whether the man will be charged, saying it depends on the motivation behind the hoax.

The DHS this week sent an advisory to the National Football League and local officials describing a possible uncorroborated threat against some NFL stadiums. The threat, posted on a Web site, alleged that bombs could be used this weekend against stadiums in Miami, New York, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland and Cleveland. The posting said the bombs were to be delivered by truck.

The DHS said earlier the posting was not considered credible, and that the information was being shared only out of caution so that league officials and others could determine what steps to take.

10. What I want to know it how did they trace it to this guy so FAST?
Of course the answer would be we are all being monitored as possible terrorists.

14. Updated CNN: Official: Fake NFL threat competition between two men
A man has admitted posting a fake bomb threat against National Football League stadiums in major U.S. cities as part of an Internet competition with a person in Texas to create the scariest terror scenario possible, a law enforcement official told CNN. An FBI source said agents do not believe a 20-year-old Milwaukee, Wisconsin, man who was interviewed and released, has any connections to terrorism, but do believe he was involved in making the threat.

15. Remember that guy in Portland who was "detained"? Muslim.
Dude was an attorney, had served in the US Army, but was a Muslim, and when his fingerprint was mistakenly identifed as one found at the Madrid bombing, they took him in and held him for 14 days. No "interview". There was nothing linking him to the crime except that one fingerprint, and of course that was an error.

We're not looking for terrorists. We're looking for Muslim terrorists.

Cheeseheads can apparently yell FIRE in the auditorium and get away with it, but call yourself Mustafa and try it.

P.S.- I am not advocating busting every punk who travels through Algeria or get's a TNT tatttoo. I am pointing out the double standard and expecting the police to do a better job than just "rounding up the usual suspects".

18. So our nation's "intelligence" is still working "harder", not
"smarter" 5 years after 9-11. :banghead:

You would think this would be easy to check out rather quickly with all Bush's super secret "illegal" listening tactics and torture in place now.

I'm sure "thinking like a terrorist" is a pretty common "game" these days. I mean after that plane flew into that NYC apt building, didn't we (and the MSM) all say how easy it would be to fill one of those little planes with biological weapons and smash them just about anywhere? How about those college stadiums that seat about 100k ? Some are even located in rural areas with small regional airports nearby.

See how easy that was?

Note to Agent Mike: If this just upset you, please PM me so I can tell you I'm kidding. :silly:

:hi: Pats :clinky:
Love, Edie

19. your point is well taken
the terrorists could easily get in a plane and fly a small one into an event with a 1000 people at it (hs football) or bigger things. How are we safer at all from 9/11? It's all about enforcing our borders and with thousands of troops over in Iraq that shouldn't be there who should be HERE it makes that job harder.
