Democrats Close Money Gap With GOP
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Democrats' Senate campaign organization raised $13.6 million in September, outpacing the Republican National Committee and setting the stage for an expensive and brawling finish to the 2006 campaign.

Overall, Republicans still hold a financial advantage going into the final days of the campaign. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee reported $23.1 million in hand, compared with $26 million reported by the RNC.

But the numbers show a closing trend for Democrats who have been lagging behind overall Republican fundraising.

...snip...

The Democratic National Committee, which trails the RNC in fundraising, had not yet released its figures.

On the House side, the National Republican Congressional Committee reported raising $12 million in September, with $39.2 million cash on hand. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee had not yet made its numbers public.

1. seen this?
Mr. Rove said Republican candidates still hold a huge cash edge over Democrats, which will give them clout in the final three weeks of the campaign . . . "Between now and the election, we will spend $100 million in target House and Senate races in the next 21 days."

Karl Rove

24. One famous Texas campaigner Used to Say
Just contribute a little bread money, not the money for the meat. I think we should contribute, but if five or ten dollars is all we can afford, then that is all we should give. There is no reason to bankrupt ourselves.

22. DSCC 2 to 1 match until October 31
https://secure.democratsenators.org/dia/organizations/dscc/shop/20061003_clinton_changedirection.jsp

"For every dollar contributed by October 31 as a result of this request, a group of Senate Democrats will raise an additional two dollars - effectively tripling your gift."

18. I just gave again in response to Al Gore's email - money doubled!
The link in the above post doesn't work, the web address I used from my
email was different. I think one needs to be on the DSCC email list.
The web address I used looks like it is customized to a geographic area.

15. Anyone know how to get some of this cash to our awesome candidate?
He was considered a longshot so not as much money is going to him and he is surprising everyone BUT ME and is picking up speed and outpacing his opponent. We need enough to get out the vote in our county, it's the one that makes the difference in our district (it's the largest). He was on the list of dems who are pulling ahead in their district races that was released the other day. He's Larry Kissell, he's on fire (you can check him out at his web site www.larrykissell.com). If anyone knows of what steps to take to get any of that money please let me know. We desperately need him, his district includes Ft. Bragg NC and he has been quoted as saying that he wants our soldiers to be phased out of Iraq with the honor they deserve. He says no to this 'stay the course' mess. We need more like him in the House of Representatives when John Conyers needs the House behind him. You should know I do not beg for anything but right now I am begging for any direction to get some funds for our candidate. Thanks.

19. Barbara Boxer's PAC for Change is targeting VA, TN, MS Senate seats
She's asking for money that will go directly to Ford in TN, Webb, in VA, and McCaskill in MS -

"So now the Republicans have started to circle the wagons around
their most threatened Senate seats. They have admitted pulling
money out of other states where they are trailing badly to try
to build a firewall around these three seats: Tennessee, where
Bill Frist is retiring; Virginia, where George Allen has been
imploding; and Missouri, where Jim Talent has consistently
rubber stamped President Bush's extreme right-wing agenda.

This Republican firewall strategy is an admission that they are
giving up on other seats where you and our PAC for a Change
community have been involved -- a last ditch effort to fend off
the strong challenges from 3 tremendous Democratic candidates
who are on the brink of winning "safe" Republican seats in "red
states."

25. Mainly I Think Things Are Improving
Far be it from me to be perfect, but I think the news is
shaping up halfway decent for the time being, even though
challenges remain with us always.
The country seems to be shifting away from mainly
conservative positions. Maybe California will lead the way in
helping us turn things around. I think that the issues are
mainly being disguised from us by the media.
The challenges are many for good people to confront, but
if we do our best, we may turn things around.
Let's think about our role in this election season,
whether to vote or not, and believe that in my opinion a
Democratic victory will help slow the negativity somewhat.
Good Luck.
