Chapman tells parole board he regrets shooting John Lennon

BUFFALO, N.Y. John Lennon's killer said he asked God to turn back time after the shooting, because he was so filled with regret.

According to a transcript released today, Mark David Chapman told the three-member panel during the October 10th hearing that the murder could have been prevented.

Chapman, who has served 25 years of a 20 year-to-life sentence for second-degree murder, was making his fourth attempt at release. Parole was denied.

21. Yes, fuck him, it's a little too late
I'm still not over it 26 years later. I hope he suffers the remainder of his disgusting life.

I know, not a good liberal thought. But it was if he killed my best friend. Fuck him,

3. I'm glad I'll never know
what it must feel like to be him. His wanton act caused so much sadness and greif, and deprived the rest of us who loved John's music, his wit and social awareness, that even the fullness of time hasn't healed the wound created by this person. May he be haunted by remorse his entire mortal life.

10. Bastard was "born again" years before he pulled the trigger
May he rot in the hell of his own conscience for a good long time before death takes mercy on him.

7. Chances are pretty good that he didn't.
Ditto Sirhan Sirhan and Lee Harvey Oswald. And that's why he'll probably never get out of the slammer.

Just a hunch.

17. comix for the paranoid
http://www.mackwhite.com/lennon.html

Okay, it's probably nonsense based on circumstantial evidence, but still....

Chapman later said: "There was no emotion, there was no anger, there was nothing, dead silence in the brain, dead cold quiet...He walked past me and then I heard a voice in my head saying 'Do it, do it, do it,' over and over again, saying, 'Do it, do it, do it,' like that. I pulled the gun out of my pocket..."

Nonsense, no. This kind of crap is why we're in the sorry state of affairs we're in today.

18. Oh well, that makes it all right then.
(sigh) I don't wish him ill, but people who go around shooting other
people for no reason just shouldn't be allowed to walk around in public.
Especially if they might get hold of a gun.

20. He's nuts, I don't want him to get out, but I hope that he gets better
Chapman is a schizophrenic. He had religious themes as part of his illness. He went through delusional states where he thought he was John Lennon at times, and thought he had to kill Lennon at times "for Jesus".

I don't doubt his religous experiences. Perhaps he has learned to sort out genuine faith from his previous delusional ideation? It happens sometimes when people get treatment for long-term mental health conditions.

26. Stay in jail assh*le
You killed a man so you could be famous. You got your wish. Part of redemption is taking responsibility. Suck it up and enjoy your lifetime in prison. You took a man's life away. You took a father away from his children. You took a husband away from his wife. You took a hero away from millions. As far as I'm concerned, you got off easy.
