(Kay Bailey) Hutchison Says She Would Not Have Voted For Iraq War If ...

TX: Hutchison Says She Would Not Have Voted For Iraq War If She Knew There Were No WMDs

SAN ANTONIO, Tex - U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas) Thursday night declared that
she would not have voted for the war in Iraq had she known there were no weapons of mass
destruction in that country.

Responding to a question at a televised League of Women Voters' debate in Central Texas
concerning whether she would have voted differently on the war in Iraq had she known that the
nation had no weapons of mass destruction and no connection to al Qaeda, Hutchison said she
would not have voted for the war.

"If I knew then what I had known now on the weapons of mass destruction, which was a key
reason I voted the way I did, I would not have voted to go into Iraq then," Hutchison said.

This came in a debate between Hutchison, Texas' senior senator, Democrat Barbara Ann
Radnofsky (D-Houston) and Libertarian Scott Lanier Jamison in which Radnofsky, who is running
an uphill race, kept the heat on Hutchison who found herself on the defensive time after time
on issues ranging from immigration to her votes against the minimum wage.

What a remarkable and stunning lie! She regrets her war vote now not because of the WMD
issue, but because her fellow Texas ass George W. Bush and his handlers have, for all intents
and purposes, failed to win it. If things had turned out differently would she be making so
disingenuous and self-serving a confession? Of course not.

5. Of course it's a flip-flop
She has consistently supported the war. Something else strange, there were repeated references to her not saying she would serve a full term if elected. I don't know what that was all about.

3. She's a lying criminal trying to save her ass, she's been crooked
for years now and she's supported * and his cronies the ENTIRE time they have been there and before! She was one of my "Representatives" and I would write her and she would EVENTUALLY sent me a rah-rah * form letter which addressed NONE of my concerns.

She's lying through her teeth now.

6. Did she also say Why she voted to decimate Habeas Corpus??
Edited on Thu Oct-19-06 11:38 PM by TxBlue
Perhaps the other day she didn't understand it was unconstitutional to vote to shred everything this country was FOUNDED on?
Will she later say that was her defense? Ignorance?

And about the war...did she say what she was doing to get our troops back home NOW.

Warm spit has more value.

Rant off.

10. Looks like Ms. Hutchison, like so many other
congressional buttbrains, didn't bother or care to listen to the experts who knew the facts about whether Iraq had WMDs and the fact that there were no ties to Al Qaeda. The SOBs are too busy looking for campaign money/making deals/playing politics to retain their positions of power. Some of the incompetent bastards don't even bother reading the bills they vote upon.

11. If she had visited Democratic Underground, she would have known.
Hindsight wasn't 20/20 for millions of people in the world. We knew there were no WMD. We knew it was a sham. We knew it was a pack of lies. We knew it would end up just exactly this way.

Excuses don't cut it, Kay. You're covering your hiney with saran wrap and everyone can see right through it.

12. No one "knew" for sure. That's why we had the IEAE, remember?
We asked for the IEAE to search Iraq. They said there was no evidence of WMDs.

This was only 3 years ago, folks. Remember ElBaradei being forced to leave Iraq so we could invade? Remember what he said?

"I should note that in recent weeks, possibly as a result of increasing pressure by the international community, Iraq has been more forthcoming in its cooperation with the IAEA," he said, adding that inspectors still have found no evidence that Saddam Hussein has revived his nuclear program.

So, who were you listening to, Ms. Hutchison? If not the inspectors on the ground, who then?

I'd ask this of every single Iraq War advocate today just as I did back then. Who are you listening to that says Iraq has WMDs?

We all know the answer. The only reason Kay can get away with saying this is that so many of you listened to the rich spoiled AWOL C student hate and fear mongering mendacious hypocrite.

You know the day I knew not to listen to a word he said? After 2000, during the tumultuous month of November, his motto was "stop counting the votes!"

That's the most un-American phrase ever uttered by an pResident.

24. Didn't Blix debunk the BS
immediately after Colin spewed it on basic cable?

What's really F'd up is that it took Americans so long to come to grips with this reality. And so many STILL haven't accepted it. The Freepers are still aflutter (last I checked) about a handful of unviable, deteriorated biological weapons. I guess its human nature to want to deny getting suckered.

But, let's assume we swallowed the WMD crap, hook, line and sinker. Shouldn't we still be concerned about who possesses them now? That was what we were threatened with: this technology could be passed to a third party. Maybe the nuke tech got passed to NK, or Iran. Maybe a terrorist org. has the chemical or biological weapons. Nobody is hitting the panic button, which tips their hand that they don't seriously believe any of the lies we were handed.

It may have been a good strategy to have operated on the assumption that this BS was true and placed the focus on verifying the whereabouts of these alleged weapons instead of "liberating" the Iraqi people. An investigation into the weapons would have concluded that intelligence was fabricated and/or misconstrued by someone, and I think it would be nice if that someone had to take responsibility for it. I believe the current admin. would have fared much worse in the eyes of Americans.

25. The underlying message - They're losing GOP women
and probably losing them in droves. They totally misread the electorate at the beginning of the campaign season with their 'stay the course' nonsense, and are now playing catch-up with 3 weeks to go.

Quite stunning, if you think about it. Their entire campaign was centered around the invasion and occupation of Iraq being a GOOD thing, and they were all supposed to line up behind * and pimp the occupation for all it was worth, an "in your face" strategy that has worked for them so many times in the past.

KBH didn't come up with this "position" on her own, either. Loyal GOoPers don't just decide to leave the Bunnypants Ranch and go out on their own. Someone decided KBH should say this, someone saw some numbers that they didn't like, and so KBH is deserately seeking GOP women.

27. te he. Looks like she had a tough time at the debate:

.While Hutchison was on the defensive Radnofsky was on the offensive, and had help from the panel of journalists asking questions. The journalists specifically asked Hutchison about her broken promise to run for only two terms in the U.S. Senate.

Hutchison said that she now believed that Texas could be at a disadvantage because not all states have term limits. However, the U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that neither United States Senators nor U.S. Congressmen are able to be controlled by state term limits laws:

“I favored them then and favored them now,” Hutchison said on term limits. “If you have term limits for one state but not others, it disadvantages your state…I have decided to run for a third time because I wan
