Rep. Alexander’s Office Sued for Harassment
By John Bresnahan
Roll Call Staff
Friday, Oct. 20; 4:28 pm

Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-La.), already enmeshed in the ex-Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) page scandal, now faces a new controversy as a former staffer has sued his office for sexual harassment.

The full story is also at Raw Story:

Elizabeth Scott, Alexander’s former scheduler, claims that Royal Alexander, the Congressman’s chief of staff, “engaged in a course of misconduct” that included “inappropriate sex-based comments, ogling and touching” and “sexual advances,” according to Michael Hoare, Scott’s attorney. Scott told the Congressman of his aide’s alleged improper behavior but the Louisiana Republican took no action to correct the situation, Hoare said.

Adam Terry, Alexander’s spokesman, called Scott’s action a “frivolous lawsuit” and denied that any impropriety had taken place.

“The Office of Rep. Alexander values its employees and conducts all personnel matters in compliance with the Congressional Accountability Act and House Rules,” Terry said in a statement. “As a result, we believe that the facts will show there is no basis for this lawsuit, and we look forward to proving this in a court of law.”

From Roll Call:
Rep. Rodney Alexander (R-La.), already enmeshed in the ex-Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) page scandal, now faces a new controversy as a former staffer has sued his office for sexual harassment.

Elizabeth Scott, Alexander's former scheduler, claims that Royal Alexander, the Congressman's chief of staff, "engaged in a course of misconduct" that included "inappropriate sex-based comments, ogling and touching" and "sexual advances," according to Michael Hoare, Scott's attorney. Scott told the Congressman of his aide's alleged improper behavior but the Louisiana Republican took no action to correct the situation, Hoare said....

Scott said she was demoted from her position as scheduler to staff assistant by Royal Alexander in May 2006 when "she complained of possible sex discrimination" by him. She met with the Congressman shortly after that and informed him about the alleged improper behavior by his chief of staff, according to Hoare. Rodney and Royal Alexander are not related.

Scott eventually left the office at the end of June, saying it was "intolerable" for her to work there any longer.

4. All these little illegal 'faux pas' we've been reading about don't
seem to make it to the news so people can absorb that additional whiff of corruption and depravity. I hope it all oozes out soon!

Alexander aide fired for writing convicted killer

A member of U.S. Rep. Rodney Alexander’s staff has been fired after the congressman discovered she was corresponding with convicted killer Scott Peterson while on the job, his spokesman said Wednesday.

“Rep. Alexander decided to terminate Ms. Mares' employment with his office in light of recent revelations that she has been using government resources to personally communicate with Scott Peterson,” Adam Terry said. “Ms. Mares' actions have been embarrassing to our office and demonstrate that her views are politically incompatible with those of the congressman.”

An August story in the National Enquirer reported that Mare sent at least 18 letters to Peterson professing her love for the convicted killer.

“After that, our office conducted an internal investigation and discovered that this employee was, in fact, writing some of the letters to Mr. Peterson on congressional time,” Terry said.

Mares was fired in mid-August, Terry said. She had worked for Alexander since he first took office in 2003.

10. So, prior to 2004 (when he was a Democrat) there were no problems
But since 2004 (when to switched parties to Republican) things have pretty much gone to he-ll in a hand basket. Karma sure does suck, doesn't it Rodney. As a Louisiana Democrat myself, all I have to say is don't even think about coming back.....we don't want you.
