Bush Confident GOP Will Keep Control Of Congress

POSTED: 9:23 am PDT October 22, 2006
UPDATED: 9:38 am PDT October 22, 2006

WASHINGTON -- President Bush says Republicans will keep control of the House and Senate as long as candidates stick to the issues of national security and the economy.

Bush said in a taped interview with ABC's "This Week" that his immigration proposals that stalled under GOP objections are still in play, and that they'll be discussed again in connection with national security plans.

He said while many Democratic candidates are slamming him in their ads this year, he's "not on the ballot."

4. no worries - he also thought we'd be greeted as liberators
Bush hasn't been right on one single thing yet.

And the fact that he does not see this election as a referendum
on his own failings further emphasizes the true ignorance of the man.

Going down with his own ship. blub blub blub

6. When you pay off the makers of the voting machines you can be confident
I think this time it just may be too obvious and the people may just have something to say about it after they steal this election.

At least I hope we rise up after this one.

10. "I was never about 'stay the course'" ..."There is no doubt" ...
"I wouldn't say this if it wasn't true"..."We are not occupiers, but liberators"..."Major combat operations are over" ..."Dead or alive"... "I'm really not concerned about Osama bin Laden" ...

Catapulting his own propaganda at himself.

Taking Bush at his word is always dicey, but I'm beginning to believe this one.

Perhaps he should become better informed.

12. Really, what else is he going to realistically say?
"No, I think we're going to get our asses kicked so all you Republicans may as well stay home". It's politics, it's rhetoric. Don't read more into it than it really is.

13. There's another reason why * has to keep saying that in public:
to keep the contributions coming to the RNC. His silence would imply pessimism, and pessimism implies failure. And since these donors don't like to spend money without getting something in return, they wouldn't likely donate to republicans if they weren't going to win and give some republican love back in terms of more tax cuts, etc.

25. maybe he has a reason to be optimistic...
Tuesday, Oct. 17, the Iwo Jima Expeditionary Strike Group steamed into the Persian Gulf to join the US naval, air and marine concentration piling up opposite Iran’s shores. It consists of the amphibious transport dock USS Nashville, the guided-missile destroyers USS Cole and USS Bulkeley, the guided-missile cruiser USS Philippine Sea, the attack submarine USS Albuquerque, and the dock landing ship USS Whidbey Island. The Iwo Jima group is now cruising 60 km from Kuwait off Iran’s coast. As DEBKAfile and DEBKA-Net-Weekly reported exclusively two weeks ago, three US naval task forces will be in place opposite Iran in the Persian Gulf and Arabian Sea by October 21. The other two are the USS Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group and the USS Enterprise Strike Group.

28. the BUSH CONFIDENCE RECORD:
because he was soooooooooooo confident and "right" about his "plans"

--- Iraq IS NOT A MESS (it's a freaking disaster)

--- The Economy is doing great (disclaimer: may not apply to those earing less than a brazillion dollars per year)

--- Social Security and Prescription Drug plans have been FIXED. (the donout hole which formed is not shrinking or growing - it's still there)

--- The country is united (most of them uniting against bush)

However the main reason bush is so confident about a GOP win is because he doesn't look at the polls
