Republicans fear powerful N.Y. Democrats
(caution: strong fearful language)

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/new_york_house_races
By DEVLIN BARRETT, Associated Press Writer Wed Oct 25, 9:04 PM ET

AURORA, N.Y. - The ominous chill Republicans are feeling these days has little to do with October's blustery winds and everything to do with the big coattails Hillary Rodham Clinton and Eliot Spitzer bring to the top of the state Democratic ticket on Election Day.

With voters across the country signaling discontent with the Republican-led Congress and
President Bush's administration, New York Republicans fear that three of their once-safe House seats are in jeopardy — out of 15 GOP seats nationwide that could swing the House to Democratic control.

"New York state is in a death spiral," :scared:state legislature candidate Tim Julian, a Republican, said at a recent political forum in Rome, N.Y.

At the top of the Democratic ticket, Clinton is enjoying the rosy warmth of job security. Former Yonkers Mayor John Spencer, the little-known Republican challenger for her Senate seat, is expected to lose big.

3. More fear! : "GOP says Democratic victories would be disastrous"

GOP has warnings about shift
Party says Democratic victories would be disastrous

By William Neikirk
Tribune senior correspondent
Published October 26, 2006

WASHINGTON -- Seeking to boost turnout and sway voters, Republicans are issuing dire warnings about a Democratic victory that would make Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi the speaker of the House and put key Democrats in charge of committees with power to raise taxes, launch investigations and impeach the president.

On Web sites, in news releases and on the campaign trail, the GOP portrays such Democratic lawmakers as New York's Charles Rangel, Michigan's John Conyers, California's Henry Waxman and Massachusetts' Barney Frank as political villains who would overturn or trim major GOP initiatives.

Rarely have potential heads of committees of a new Congress been so vilified by name in opposition campaign material. "I don't see how it will be effective," said Waxman, due to take over the House Government Reform Committee if Democrats win control of the House.

Republicans cite Waxman as a man who would be in charge of "Investigations Central" if Democrats win. The California Democrat said he would be fair and nonpartisan in his probes of fraud, waste and abuse but added that investigations are needed. "The Republicans have given us 12 years of lessons of how not to behave."

6. Here in NY20 we are hoping for
those coattails and that Kirsten Gillibrand will win on Nov 7th:

In addition to this race, Democrats have hopes of claiming seats held by Republican Reps. Tom Reynolds in the Buffalo area and John Sweeney in the Saratoga Springs region. As they consider a late-campaign attempt to enlarge the number of competitive races, party strategists are weighing a plan to send help to Rep. Jim Walsh's challenger in Syracuse, officials said.

With the outcome of her own race assured, Clinton is campaigning vigorously for Democrats in and out of New York, arguing that disenchanted Republicans can be persuaded to swing to Democrats.

In New York, she has devoted considerable time and fundraising help to Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democratic lawyer trying to unseat Sweeney after four terms in a race expected to be close. Gillibrand, who even looks a bit like a younger Clinton, praised Clinton as a mentor who has given "the amount of care that I really couldn't expect from any senator."

Asked about coattails, Clinton said Monday at a rally outside Albany: "I think it can motivate turnout. I think people who want Eliot Spitzer as governor, they're going to show up and they're much more likely to vote for Kirsten and for me, and I think that's great."

And here are some pics of Bill Clinton campaigning for Kirsten today in Albany:

Sweeney is the congressman that was the head of the young republican nazi's in FL in '00, he's involved with Abramoff and DeLay. In general the all round gop creep.

9. Which three seats
did they consider "safe"? Every GOP seat in five hundred miles seems going down in flames and everywhere else I read the same with some drama being the growing exception.

10. Another thing New York has going for it is the old, reliable, unriggable
lever voting machines. Unlike us dimwits in the rest of the country, New York has resisted Bush Junta bullying to force them to convert to electronic voting machines, run on TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code, owned and controlled by Bushite corporations.

New Yorkers are not stupid.

Diebold, and our Diebold shill Secretary of State in California, and the Bushites behind him, are determined to turn California into a "red state," against the will of the people. We're fighting back with massive Absentee Ballot voting. But it's an uphill battle to embarrass the corrupt fools who purchased these crapass, insecure and extremely insider hackable voting machines. They don't embarrass easily. We do have a GREAT candidate opposing the Diebold shill for Sec of State, DEBORAH BOWEN. She is even with him, or a little ahead, in the polls--against what appears to be a coming landslide for Diebold (s)elected Schwarzenegger (the Recall was our first election with widespread secret corporate vote counting). But Californians do have a penchant for putting opposite party candidates in the lower rung positions--Lt. Gov, A.G. and Sec of State. So maybe there's hope.

How stupid are Californians--including much of the state party leadership? So stupid that we let the S.O.B.s "swiftboat" our good Sec of State Kevin Shelley out of office on entirely bogus corruption charges. And then we let Schwarzenegger replace him with a Diebold shill APPOINTEE (Bruce McDiebold...er McPherson).

Shelley had sued Diebold for their lies about the security of their election theft machines, decertified the worst of their machines (the touchscreens), demanded to see their source code, and provided Californians with a paper ballot option, prior to the 2004 election. Vengeance was swift and brutal. He was forced out of office three months after the election. (Kerry won the state by a 10% margin.)

McDiebold is undoing all of Shelley's reforms. He illegally RE-certified Diebold touchscreens. And recently he watered down our right to a real paper ballot, by giving corrupt election officials (of which we have many, alas) permission to substitute "Provisional" ballots when people a paper ballot, and when the machines...ahem..."break down." He says that "Provisional" ballots will be "treated like" real ballots. I'll bet they heard that one from Kenneth Blackwell in Ohio. And if you believe it, you probably also believe that God speaks to Bush.

Faith-based voting systems. That's what we have out in the desert of BushWorld (pretty much the rest of the country outside of New York and Oregon).

HELP!!!

Send money to DEBRA BOWEN. Call all your friends and family in California and tell them to vote for DEBRA BOWEN--and to vote by Absentee Ballot. (The CA deadline for requesting an Absentee Ballot is OCTOBER 31, next Tuesday. Still plenty of time.) (An Absentee Ballot vote is Californians' only guarantee that we won't be disenfranchised on election day by "machine breakdowns" and other shenanigans. Probably true of other states as well.)

I salute you, New York! And I especially salute your hulky, gray, old-fashioned lever voting machines. Hang on to them for dear life!
