Police investigating white powder found in Bill Clinton's office
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 06:56 PM by ECH1969
We are following a developing story out of Harlem. Police investigators are looking into a suspicious white powder that has been found inside former President Bill Clinton's office in Harlem on West 125th Street.

Shannon Sohn is in NewsCopter 7 at the scene where ESU units are investigating.

Clinton, meanwhile, is headed to the Grammercy Park Hotel to celebrate his birthday.

7. GOP biased free lance CIA? The management structure of the CIA has
many need to know wet work cells running around without direction/supervision from the very top. The CIA is home to a very very large number of employees, and everyone I ever knew was a patriot and every one, except one, was sane. They live a weird life where going to the ER requires getting a superior to come with you to make sure you don't spill the beans via the pain or via the drugs taken to combat the pain. Like the military, there is a lot sacrificed so as to serve the country, but folks are not even supposed to know that they are CIA.

Middle management CIA nuts would be my best guess.

Nope. But it does give one pause as to why it's only Democrats and other Progressive leaning journalists who receive these *powders*? Hum ... ?

24. LOL - I agree - Folks I know are more like analysts and small business owners
than like anything in 007!

But the CIA does indeed have not just spies and analysts, but also a few "workers".

I was always amazed by how much money is stored overseas (measured in B's) and the corporations actually owned by the CIA.

Because my company (called "International Bank" - located at 1701 Penn, DC) had agreed back in the 50'/60's to be a cover for the CIA "pensioning" of Pakistan Generals (while before my time,I am told that we funded the power struggle loser then in exile and condemned to death fellow from the Mirza/General Ayub Khan era, and during my time checks went to Zia via a numbered account in Europe), we were always scared to death that we had a CIA mole aboard that might get us in trouble with the CIA. As we flagged most of the world's ships, I always suspected we also provide the CIA with flags as needed, but I do not know this to be a fact. We had nothing to do with the CIA's secret air force, although some of our overseas subsidiaries may have been fake. Olmstead, the owner/controller of the company, had funded Ike when Ike was a General (yeah - Ike had a slush fund provided by "friends" while a General) and used car dealer and auto insurance provider Olmstead got to be a Quartermaster General for Ike during WW2 and Korea and later the Under Sec of Commerce controlling the Atoms for Peace money from which he funded the Pakistan development of their atomic weapons during the Ike years and later advised on same during all GOP administration - being a Buddy of Reagan with Thursday night dinners with him on many, many Thursday nights (we wanted Pakistan to have the bomb so as to offset India - a friend of the USSR - and their bomb). The GOP/CIA/Mafia connection was also interesting (1701 Penn was purchased in the 50's via the Mafia - a union controlled by the Mafia sold it to Olmstead's Insurance operation that he had just bought (Bankers Life and USLICO - albeit he had less than 40% of each company)- because, it was said, it had been ordered to do so by God knows who in the GOP - all of which made working there a bit more exciting).

However I digress. Your point is well taken - the 007 lifestyle is a movie invention.

The LA times was shut down the other night due to White Powder!
LOS ANGELES, Oct 24 (Reuters) - About 12 Los Angeles Times employees briefly evacuated the paper's newsroom on Tuesday night after white powder was found in an envelope sent to the publication, but police said the substance was not toxic.

Police responded to the newspaper's downtown Los Angeles offices shortly after 7:30 p.m. local time after a clerk discovered the powder in the envelope.

The powder was not toxic, Sgt. Mark Hurley of the LAPD hazardous materials squad told reporters.

Hurley said the envelope contained a letter with the name of a man and "general ramblings," but "there was no threat to anyone at the L.A. Times."

He declined to identify the material or the person who wrote the letter and did not say whether the letter referred to the powder.

The clerk who opened the envelope was taken to a local hospital as a precaution.

White Powder Sent to L.A. Times
Filed under: General, Dog Trainer — Patterico @ 11:34 pm
Some lunatic apparently sent an envelope with white powder to an L.A. Times editor. (Via L.A. Observed.) The building was evacuated. Turns out the powder was harmless, but this sort of thing is never a laughing matter.

Except to the New York Post, that is.

UPDATE: The L.A. Times has a report:

A hazardous materials crew from the Los Angeles Police Department was dispatched to the Los Angeles Times Tuesday evening after a white powdery substance was discovered in a letter mailed to the newspaper.

By 10 p.m., about 2 ½ hours after authorities were contacted, police determined that the powder was not hazardous. A Times security official said it was believed to be arabinic acid, which is used as an additive in chewing gum.

An estimated 150 to 200 employees were temporarily required to stay in the building, including those in the third-floor newsroom where the letter had been opened.

LAPD Sgt. Mark Hurley said the letter, addressed simply to the “editor” of the newspaper, had “general rambling” comments but no specific threat. He said authorities would investigate the incident further, and would contact the person identified in the letter as the sender.

Are we going to have white powder scares from now until election day!
By the way what ever happened to the investigation into who attacked with Anthrax in 2001!

20. Sending anthrax thru the mail is completely safe. For the sender.
Edited on Fri Oct-27-06 08:24 PM by aquart
I guess that makes people think it's also safe to send fake anthrax.

Whatever is in the envelope, it is still terrorism.

Which means we can send them away and "dunk" them like donuts.

17. They never did catch the anthrax people, did they?
And by "they" I mean BushCo.

Isn't it facinating that the attacks all happened while the Republicans were rammingn through the Patriot Act?

The letters were postmarked 9/18 and 10/9 of 2001 and opened several days later. Patriot Act signed on 10/26. Once the Act was signed, the attacks went away and the people were never caught.

:tinfoilhat:

There weren't even any suspects, just a lone person of interest who's plenty pissed and sueing everybody.
