Early-absentee vote total tops 140,000 in Nevada
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - At the start of the second and final week of Nevada's two-week early voting period, more than 140,000 Nevadans have showed up at polling sites or turned in absentee ballots in the two counties with most of the state's voters.

In Clark County, encompassing Las Vegas, the early and absentee vote count through Monday evening was 111,427, including 51,484 Democrats and 44,800 Republicans. In Washoe County, encompassing Reno, the early-absentee count through late Monday was 29,063, including 11,810 Democrats and 13,665 Republicans.

Nonpartisans and splinter-party members accounted for the balance of the early-absentee voters in the two counties, Nevada's most populous with 85 percent of all registered voters in the state.

The turnout by Democrat and Republican voters so far reflects overall registration. Democrats outnumber Republicans in the Las Vegas area while there are more GOP voters than Democrats in the Reno area.

3. How is Nevada a republican state?
Can someone please explain that? Between Vegas, Reno, and other spots, I don't get it.

4. That can't be right - there aren't 140,000 people in the whole state of NV.
LOL

Nobody gets to flame me over this, BTW. I was born in NV. My dad's family all are/were out in White Pine County around Ely and Baker.

7. I don't know for sure, but I doubt there are 10,000 in White Pine Co.......
And at one time, probably 50 years ago, at least half were some sort of cousins of my dad's, lol (those Mormon polygamists, you know).

6. What always worries me about Las Vegas is this
There are more California license plates there than Nevada.. Do those people vote in both places??
My husband's a prime example.. When the MGM Grand was under construction, he had an apartment there for TWO YEARS..he flew back and forth on weekends..

Technically he "could" have registered to vote there..(he did not)
There are a LOT of Arizona & CA people who have two residences..

8. Those with two homes are mostly rich Republicans, I suspect, so
voting in two places is something I would EXPECT.

Laws ARE for the Little People, you know.........
