Kerry Cancels Casey Event

Kerry Cancels Casey Event

WASHINGTON (AP) - November 1, 2006 - Sen. John Kerry canceled his planned appearance Wednesday at a Philadelphia rally with Democratic Senate candidate Bob Casey amid controversy over comments he made about troops in Iraq.

"We made a decision not to allow the Republican hate machine to use Democratic candidates as proxies is the distorted spin war," said David Wade, a Kerry spokesman, in a statement.

Casey's opponent, Sen. Rick Santorum, had said Casey should disavow Kerry's comments.

The furor was triggered over Kerry's comment, to a group of California students on Monday, that people unable to succeed in the U.S. educational system would likely "get stuck in Iraq."

1. Casey
doesn't need anyone to beat Ricky, as Ricky will continue to do the job for him.

So why did you (the DLC) give us JFK as our annointee in 2004?

(Just wondering, 'cause we had some far better candidates running
back then, but the DLC machine went out of its way to torpedoe them.)

3. That may NOT be what Kerry intended to say, but
inadvertantly, he was actually right!

How many people actually join the military because of their tremendous patriotism? My guess would be VERY FEW!

As far as I know, most of 'em join the military because they can't find a decent job, or are looking for the education benefit.

12. I was at the Philly event tonight.
Lack of Kerry did not keep people away. It was packed. And it was a real circus out in front of the restaurant where it was held. There were a bunch of Santorum people in front of the building waving signs and chanting. Immediately across the street were people with a worldcantwait.org banner chanting back. It was right near a corner so stopped vehicles were honking horns in support of one group or the other. The two groups were yelling back and forth the street at each other, it was so noisy I couldn't hear what they were saying. I have some pictures. Maybe I'll be able to post them in a day or two.

13. Of course Kerry was wrong.
That's why well educated young people are applying in droves for the military.
That's why there are plenty of replacements for the troops so no-one gets to serve for long on the battlefield.
That's why sports watches and cash bonuses are being offered to those who sign up.
That's why illegal immigrants are told signing up will fast-track them to becoming citizens.
That's why entry standards just keep going up and up.
