DW: Israel Calls on Germany to Keep Nukes Out of Iranian Hands
Israel Calls on Germany to Keep Nukes Out of Iranian Hands

In a meeting with his German counterpart, the Israeli defense minister urged the world, and Germany in particular, to act after Iran claimed to have fired longer-range ballistic missiles for the first time.

"Iran provoked the whole world on Thursday and it is impossible to ignore it," Israeli Defense Minister Amir Peretz said in a statement following talks with visiting German counterpart Franz-Josef Jung.

"I have no doubt that the German defense minister understands we cannot stay indifferent while Iran wants to develop nuclear weapons and has an official ideology that advocates the destruction of Israel," Peretz added.

"The international community and of course Germany, who plays a key role in this matter, should convey these message and take steps to impose it."

1. Did you post this to scare people into believing that Iran has...
intentions on building a nuclear weapon...and thus we must invade them?

Haven't they made it clear that their moral beliefs don't allow them to create such weapons...I know, I know...I'm not naive either...but there's no proof, not one shred of evidence to show that they are pursuing any nuclear weapons programs...check out Scott Ritter's reports...

I get sick of this stuff showing up here...after almost 4 yrs of being a member...

BS "news reports" that only serve to perpetuate the lies and fears of the *ush administrations goals...Iran is the next target in our imperialism...

5. The problem is...
There can be no proof, and they could still be pursuing Nukes.

Most likely, the problem isn't a conventional nuclear warhead. That would be suicide for Iran and they know it, because Israel would retaliate in kind.

Iran works differently, via proxy, so that they can always have "plausible deniability".

What makes it scary is they could create nuclear material for peaceful purposes, and give some of that material to Hezbollah or another group they sponsor for use with a "dirty bomb", which requires little sophistication.

Thus, there could never be any "proof" of weapons intent, but they could still possess the intent, and claim afterwards that they had nothing to do with it.

THIS is what's scary about Iran possessing nuclear capabilities of ANY kind.

Problem is, GWB destroyed any credibility the US had in dealing with these situations and Iran has a free hand to do whatever it likes now.

3. "Iran wants to develop nuclear weapons" Peretz said.
I don't understand how this guy can waltz around the world spouting this to world leaders and the press without anyone simply asking: "Any proof?"

6. grotesquely ironic

An Israeli defense minister begging the Germans to help protect him and his country...after he (in Lebanon) and his recent predecessors and neocon Jewish lobbying in the U.S. (pushing the Iraq invasion) overreached so badly as to deeply f-ck up their situation.

7. Waaaaa.....no one's paying attention to us! So the little War Games
that the US just completed were not a deliberate provocation? It was exactly to these 'games' that Iran was responding.
