U.S. stops plan to return convicted soldier to Iraq

after a reporter called to ask about the deployment and news of it began to spread, senior commanders ordered that Cardona should stay in Kuwait, fearing he and his unit could be targeted by insurgents because of his role at Abu Ghraib.

Later on Friday, they announced he would return to his base at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The army said in a statement that Cardona would be "assigned duties commensurate with his Military Occupation Specialty and rank that allows him to be a productive member of the military police corps and the United States Army

He was convicted of failing to handle his dog properly and using the unmuzzled Belgian shepherd to threaten an inmate with a force "likely to produce death or grievous bodily harm."

Why this THUG IN UNIFORM and WAR CRIMINAL is still in the service is a slap in the face to the amerikan people

2. Not popular but what was his rank?
if E-3 or bellow under the Nuremberg standards there should not have even been a court martial

E-4 your skating on thin ice, E-5 and above, includong all the Os absolutely... and I will include the Civilian leadership in this, all the way to the CiC.

3. He was busted from E-5
Cardona was demoted from sergeant, sentenced to 90 days of hard labor and fined $7,200 by a court martial for his role in the Abu Ghraib scandal, which sparked worldwide revulsion after the pictures' release.

The Army said Cardona was no longer a member of a canine unit and his specific duties in Iraq for this tour of duty had not been determined when his deployment was halted.

4. Then he deserved the Court Martial
and should still be in jail.

I am sensitive to this becuase of Lindle England who did not belong in uniform, but she did not belong in a court martial either

An E-5 should know better and clearly be able to distinguish between a legal and an ilegal order
