Fierce Battle In Ramadi
There has been fierce fighting between US troops and gunmen in the Iraqi city of Ramadi.

The largely Sunni city, to the west of Baghdad, has been a hub of pro-Saddam sentiment....

Meanwhile, the US military said this month's casualties included two lieutenant colonels, among the highest ranking soldiers to die in Iraq since the 2003 invasion.
...
Elsewhere, the 15 bodies of unidentified torture victims were found floating in the Tigris River in Suwayrah, 25 miles south of Baghdad, Police Lt Mohammed al Shamari said.

All had been blindfolded and bound at the wrists and ankles, before being shot in the head and chest.

5. 172nd Stryker Brigade has lost at least 7 since its extension
Ramadi has seen fierce fighting for several months now--the stuff PTSD is made of.

8. The media has done a HORRIBLE job of reporting on Ramadi
The 172nd -- the forgotten brigade? When asked about an Xmas redeployment to Alaska, Rummy told the brigade's families that he wasn't Santa Claus.

Well, neither is the American taxpayer, Rummy. Corruption is why your ass will soon be out of the Pentagon.

10. The 172nd is in Baghdad
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 07:28 PM by lebkuchen
but I happen to know that soldiers redeploying to Germany from Ramadi had a very very tough go of it. I rarely saw anything reported about Ramadi on the MSM.

There is a Stryker Brigade here in Germany...Vilsek/Grafenwohr. The 172nd is in Fort Wainwright, AK.

6. Sick of the waste
What has that awful President and his power-mad clique done? The slaughter in Iraq is hopeless. Our country is in the throes of despondancy and an emptying of our spirit. We have brought chaos to a keystone in the Middle East. We have caused incalculable suffering. And what has been accomplished? I'm so ashamed to be an American.
