Korean Unions To Stage General Strike Against Trade Agreement With U.S.

The Korean Federation of Trade Unions will stage a general strike Wednesday protesting U.S.-South Korean free trade talks. Fifteen thousand workers demonstrated in Seoul on Sunday demanding their government stop the free trade talks with the U.S. The talks are set to resume in December. Workers vigorously protested the last round of talks in October. They say the agreement will destroy their livelihoods.

2. Free trade doesn't seem like such a bad thing with Korea

Obviously a lot of people get shafted because of free trade between countries like the United States and Mexico, but labor isn't necessarily very cheap In South Korea and the U.S. doesn't have that great of a scientific advantage over them. Why are Koreans so concerned?
