UK's Blair says to Bush: Its Palestine, Stupid!

British Prime Minister Tony Blair made an open plea on Monday to United States President George Bush to recognize that a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict lies at the core of any hopes for wider peace in the Middle East, including Iraq.

Blair argued on Monday night that coalition forces would be able to leave Iraq within 18 months. In his speech at the Guildhall, he said: "A major part of the answer to Iraq lies not in Iraq itself, but outside it, in the whole region where the same forces are at work, where the extremism flourishes with a propaganda that may be -- indeed is -- totally false, but is none the less attractive to much of the Arab street."

He argued: "We should start with Israel-Palestine. That is the core. We should then make progress on Lebanon. We should unite all Arab and Muslim voices behind a push for peace in those countries, but also in Iraq."

Israel's right to exist stems from its 1948 U.N. Charter. That very same charter also guaranteed a Palestinian state. There can be NO Israel without a neighboring Palestine, nor should there be. 5.2 million Israelis holding 5.2 million Palestinians inside of a barb wired ghetto called Gaza is an OUTRAGE!

The spoils of war argument actually ENCOURAGES open warfare against Israel. Why not, if you get free land?

The religious nuts will ALWAYS hate Israel: Do the right thing, and IGNORE them, and engage the moderate Palestinians in REAL diplomacy.

until both Blair and Bush are out of office. They are not honest brokers and neither has credibility internationally (or at home for that matter).

3. In the larger Arab community, maybe Blair is right...

but it won't make a difference in Iraq. I mean that if we physically picked up every Jewish person in Israel and relocated them to our twin planet (where there were no Arabs)... the folks in Iraq wouldn't miss a beat in killing each other or especially in trying to kill us.

Besides, getting Bush to help with Palestine is like getting Joseph Hazelwood to park your mega yacht.
