Iran wants 60,000 atomic centrifuges - President
Edited on Wed Nov-15-06 06:30 AM by ECH1969
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday Iran aimed to install 60,000 of the centrifuges used to enrich uranium, despite Western accusations that Tehran wants to use this process to build atomic bombs. snip.

Iran so far runs two chains of 164 centrifuges, known as cascades, which can make fuel for use in nuclear power plants or material for warheads.

On their own these cascades would take years to produce enough material for a bomb. Iran says the next step is to install 3,000 centrifuges.

"We want to produce nuclear fuel and we have to install 60,000 centrifuges, but still we are at the first stages," Ahmadinejad told a news conference shown live on state television.

It sounds like they still have some time to go if they want a bomb.

1. sounds expensive
maybe they should spend more on supporting the poverty stricken and instituting social reform then on getting the "bomb." and I don't believe for one moment it's for "peaceful" energy. I know bullshit when I hear it.

2. I think their top concern right now is a US invasion
They put a nutjob in the President's office in Tehran thanks to Shrub's sabre-rattling and "axis of evil" bullshit. We 'voted' in Bush in 2004 based on national security concerns, and they did the same things with Ahmadinijhad. Except we're THEIR national security concern!

After 9/11, while the rest of the MidEast was cheering the death of thousands of Americans, the citizens of Tehran were holding a candlelight vigil. And Bush repaid them by insulting them and threatening to nuke them.

3. I could say the same for us
Like it says in the Book of Matthew, "Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but don't consider the beam that is in your own eye?"
