Pakistan test-fires missile
Pakistan test-fired a new version of its Ghauri V nuclear-capable missile on Thursday.

The announcement comes a day after Pakistan and India ended a round of peace talks in which they agreed to safeguards to prevent an accidental nuclear conflict.

Some see the test as a show of power and a signal that Pakistan will not compromise on defence.

The missile, which can hit targets at a distance of 1,300km, was launched to mark the end of military exercises being held at an undisclosed location.
