NYT: Giuliani Goes Exploring: Files papers with FEC to "test waters" for Presidental bid
November 21, 2006
Giuliani Goes Exploring
By Sewell Chan

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani has now filed papers with the Federal Election Commission to “test the waters” for a 2008 presidential bid.

The formal filing, received late Monday, states that Mr. Giuliani is still “testing the waters,” meaning that he can raise and spend money on polls and travel, but not declare himself a candidate or build a substantial war chest.

A senior adviser to Mr. Giuliani, who would agree to speak only on condition of anonymity, reiterated that Mr. Giuliani has not made a final decision to run. “This is something every potential candidate does,” the adviser said. “It’s a formality and it’s crossing the T in exploratory.”

On Nov. 10, Mr. Giuliani created a presidential exploratory committee in New York State, but stopped short of filing federal papers, leading some observers to speculate that he was hesitant about testing the waters.

Mr. Giuliani’s new federal campaign organization has the same name as the New York organization _ the Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee. The federal organization’s treasurer is John H. Gross, a lawyer at Proskauer Rose and one of the three directors of the New York organization.

Then again, let him run, maybe we can get the greens to support him too and the libertarians (for some reason why I don't know)
I could see it shutting down the R's chances of winning nicely, so I guess I'll tentatively support it. Only problem is breaking though his wafer thin 'positive' name recognition.

6. Too thin, too bald.
The fascist personality, the marital baggage, the appearance on SNL in drag, the New York accent, the Kerik connection, the "social liberal" label - all those things don't help, but he could get through to the White House: except he's too thin. And he's way too bald. We have not elected a bald President since TV. Eisenhower doesn't count, he was running against equally bald Stevenson.

9. one of his decisions killed cops and firemen at WTC. must exploit this mistake
If he gets in the national spotlight. One of his weakness must be exploited 24/7 by us.

I'm sure many of you already know this. Rudy spent millions and millions of dollars to build the new NYC emergency command bunker/center in the WTC complex on an upper floor. Military style command bunkers are usually underground. When this was in the intitial planning stages he was WARNED BY EVERYONE that it was not a good place. The WTC was already bombed once and already a known terrorst target. Yet Rudy ignored the critics and built the command center anyway. He knew he shouldn't. He did. Many cops and firefighters died because of faulty radios and bad communications. HOw many lives were lost because of this Rudy decision. He failed us on 9/11 because of this. Failed us. What he thinks is his biggest strength must be attacked as his biggest weakness.

I live in NYC and have always hated Guiliani. He is the one who Disneyfied our city.

12. Run, Rudy, Run
I really hope he does.

Then we can ask him were he was until after the towers collapsed on 9-11? And how come he never set one toe in his OEM Bunker in WTC 7 that day?

13. Yuck. I know it is childish, but the very thought of this overblown ego
thinking he is presidential worthy makes me want to get sick.
