Suicide car bomb hits U.S. patrol in western Iraq

A suicide car bomb struck a U.S. military patrol in a town in western Iraq on Wednesday, witnesses said.

"A suicide bomber drove his explosive-laden car into a U.S. patrol at about 9:00 a.m. (0600 GMT) in the Haqlaniyah town, some 170 km northwest of Baghdad," local witnesses told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast destroyed a U.S. Humvee, causing undetermined casualties among the U.S. soldiers aboard, they said.
