NYT/AP: In Radio Address, Bush Renews Vow to Aid Katrina Victims
Bush Renews Vow to Aid Katrina Victims
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: November 25, 2006

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush on Saturday renewed the nation's commitment to help victims of last year's Gulf Coast hurricanes and thanked U.S. troops fighting abroad.

In his Saturday radio address, Bush said Americans are grateful to those who rallied after hurricanes Katrina and Rita to bring food, water and hope to people who lost everything.

''We renew our commitment to help those who are still suffering and to rebuild our nation's Gulf Coast,'' Bush said.

Next week, the president will attend a NATO summit in Europe and will meet in Jordan with Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. On Saturday, he reminded Americans that many U.S. troops are spending the holiday weekend far from their families.

''We know that their service makes it possible for us to live in freedom,'' Bush said....

1. The mission should already be accomplished by now
There should be nothing left to renew a commitment to!

The freakazoid lame-duck asshole is grasping at straws.

4. Who is Katrina? Do I know her?
:sarcasm: That seems to be the government's opinion these days. Go to Gulfport and tell them that, Cadaveroff, Bush, etc.

6. If I lost everything to Katrina a year and 3 months ago,
I can only imagine how pleased I'd be that the chimp was making a meaningless "commitment" to do something at some future unspecified date to help me out.

As for the troops....their continued presence in Iraq does nothing to help any American "live in freedom." If anything, Iraq is taking away billions of badly needed dollars that could be used to benefit people..like Katrina victims...right here at home.

Does the idiot know how stupid he sounds? Does he care? Apparently not.

(NOLA shudders and tries to show a smile so he doesn't hit her again right now)

9. Bush is a fucking asshole...
How dare he make such empty promises after ignoring the victims of Katrina all of this time.

He doesn't give a shit about these people...he is trying to bring his approval rating up.

10. Geez...just slightly reactive
My gawd the nerve of that pathetic little man know as Junior. Even if he doesn't give two shits about anyone living in NOLA he could have at least politically made a smart move and originally gone nuts to help those people. I really believe that was the biggest mistake KKKarl made during the past few years.

Shrub could have been just as much a hero nationally as he was the day after Sept. 11th. Instead they really blew it. It hurth them politically but it really hurt the people of NOLA critically.

14. Indeed. Why keep reminding public of his failures? Arrogance
He truly does not see them as failures since, after all, he has said the words and knows how he wants it to be. Meds.

13. Katrina's woes will be solved after Iraq's woes are solved
Priorities, you know, are very important to our Glorious Leader.

After all, his actions in Iraq are creating terrorists while his inactions in the South create nothing but apathy and cynicism.

16. Is there any possibility that this is a repeat of last year's address?
I wonder if Bush was too (ahem) tired out from Thanksgiving to give today's address?

17. I'll bet all the survivors of Katrina were
reassured by this marvelous man's comforting words. :sarcasm: What reminded him of Katrina? Did his bathtub overflow? It's not like this has been ANY kind of priority for him and the rest of the band of thugs he calls his administration. More hot air from the gasbag-in-chief. What a disgrace.
