Iran extends $1 billion line of credit to Iraq
Iran reached out to Iraq and the American public in separate gestures Wednesday, giving the Baghdad government a $1 billion line of credit while Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sent a personal letter to "noble Americans" calling for a military withdrawal from Iraq.

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune in Tehran, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said that in addition to the line of credit, Ahmadinejad and Talabani had signed "hundreds of millions of dollars" worth of no-bid contracts and trade pacts for Iraqi reconstruction. Under the agreements, Iran will help rebuild schools, hospitals, pipelines and power plants.

Ahmadinejad's "letter to the American people," released by Iran's UN mission in New York, made special note of the financial cost of the Iraq war to the U.S.

"I consider it extremely unlikely that you, the American people, consent to the billions of dollars of annual expenditure from your treasury for this military misadventure," he wrote. He noted other possible uses for the money, pointing out that "many victims of Katrina continue to suffer, and countless Americans continue to live in poverty and homelessness."

2. Iran is like that Uncle you have who is a pervert
Nice enough around everyone but when you get alone he wants to take advantage of you.
With that being said...the US is like the drunk Uncle. Coming in and squandering money, people and resources like they are Margarita's at a Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Not sure which is worse.

7. huh
US soldiers have been killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis? Or, because the US removed Saddam, Iraqi religious leaders had the power to make their own choices and decided to butcher each other for political power and money.

Iraqis are going to be killing each other for political power and money for as long as most of us are alive.

Lets say Sadr does butcher his way to the top, he will stay there for maybe 5-10 years before he is killed or has a heart attack and then comes the massive bloodletting again.

3. So the tide in Iraq will turn on Iran saving the day. That'll make democracy look even better
to the Iraqis. :sarcasm:

And here we sit in a money pit, having accomplished nothing but chaos and suffering in that region.

6. When all we had to do was wait for old Saddam to croak
and his sons to mess up and the civil war to break out on its own.

Then Iran would have been the troublemaker and us the honest broker. But NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO....

The Repudiated Party is so chockful of shortsighted idiots.
