Accenture opens its 4th R&D lab in Bangalore

Bangalore, Nov 30: Accenture formally opened a new lab here today, following its July announcement on its establishment focused on systems integration and software engineering research and development.
India was chosen as the fourth location for Accenture Technology labs in order to have an innovation team co-located with Accenture's one of the largest client delivery teams, a company statement said.

Accenture said it has more than 23,000 employees (as of August 31) in India, including significant professionals at its delivery centres in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Gurgaon (NCR of Delhi) serving more than 275 company clients.

Accenture's Global Delivery Network has more than 52,000 people around the world providing a wide array of services in system integration, application outsourcing, and business process outsourcing, it said.

"The goal of the India lab will be to enable businesses to reduce the cost and improve the quality of technology solution delivery," the company said.

NEW DELHI, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- IBM India set up its fourth facility in Chennai, capital of south Indian state Tamil Nadu, on Thursday adding 3,000 employees to its total staff in India, Indo-Asian News Service reported.

The new facility is part of the IT giant's 6-billion-U.S. dollar investment that it plans to spend in India in the next two to three years.

The facility will employ 3,000 workers, increasing the company's total staff in India to 46,000.

"The new facility will cater to IBM's publications management services and global delivery services," said Stanley S. Litow, IBM vice president for corporate community relations and president, at a press conference held in Chennai.

3. Accenture's main business is outsourcing.
Lou Dobbs calls them a "foreign company." Which they are since their "headquarters" is a post office box in the Caribbean.

Tax dodgers.

And they're a spinoff of Arthur Andersen (Enron's defunct accountants).

'Nuff said.

5. My company has had to clean up for Accenture many times
they hire some really good people but they hire a lot of morons at that company. They are considered one of the "best" consulting outfits but that is truly a hit or miss situation. I think their speciality is making pretty reports.
