Springer pulls plug on radio show
With a movie role and a possible Super Bowl commercial from his “Dancing with the Stars” exposure, Jerry Springer will end his weekday radio show Friday after two years.

“These things are not going to come around again, particularly at my age, so I might as well take advantage of them, ” said Springer, 62.

The last original “Springer on the Radio” will be 9 a.m.-noon today on WSAI-AM (1360). Reruns will air through Friday for about two dozen affiliates, down from a peak of 53.

“Radio is a full-time job, and I just couldn’t do it,” he said today from his Chicago TV studio.

4. Tied with Al Franken as worst AAR host
Franken is the most boring SOB on the airwaves. Even when you agree with him, you're falling asleep at his slo-mo delivery.

13. Hey bbh, you're reading my mind- Springer's show was just awful.
- nothing personal w/ him, mind you, but made my blood boil w/ his I-see-your-point-ism. And he didn't do his homework- and for an attorney this is unforgivable.

3. His fun with music lyrics is BRILLIANT.

His day to day coverage of what is new, correct, or incorrect -- not so much.

I hope Rachel gets a better spot, and I wish Jerry well.

6. Good for Jerry! But that being said...
He was AWFUL as a radio talk show host- worse than Franken (if such a thing is possible).

Good luck in all your pursuits, Jerry! :hi: -"buh-bye!"

9. Actually...
Springer was my favorite. I don't like the Randi Rhodes show which is the same rant day after day and Al Franken really sucks as well. Oh well.

10. He was ineffective, at best....
His heart was in the right place....

but I think I make better arguments myself,
and I'm a soccer mom!

Jeez!

12. He had a problem with letting freeptard callers
rattle on too long, but he did communicate very well to a broad spectrum of callers when he did his homework, which was not always. He was great on the attempt to kill Social Security, not so great on things like equality of gay people.

But it was a disgrace that in Election week, he was taking time OFF to do "Dancing with the Stars." Making WWRL, the New York "flagship," a station WITHOUT any progressive coverage of the election until noon, as Republican shill Armstrong Williams actually has the morning drive-time show in New York.

14. They put on a replacement for him in my market.
Who was better than Jerry.

Can't remember his name.

Jerry never challenged anyone with bogus info.
He didn't have his facts straight.

Like I said, his heart was in the right place,
but I preferred to switch to music when he
came on.
