Hicks case set for Australian court
LAWYERS for terror suspect David Hicks will reportedly launch legal action in an Australian court today in a bid to force the Howard Government into calling for his release.

Fairfax reports the lawyers will lodge documents in the Federal Court that will name Attorney General Philip Ruddock and Foreign Affairs Minister Alexander Downer.

They will seek an order requiring the government to protect Hicks's rights as an Australian citizen, by seeking his immediate return from Guantanamo Bay where he has been detained for five years.

“David has been in Guantanamo Bay for five years without trail and at this point he is not charged with anything,” Hicks's lawyer David McLeod told Fairfax.
