Blue Dog Democrats Have First Meeting With Bush
Congressman Mike Ross and other centrist Democrats met with President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney for the first time on Friday.

While the meeting was productive, Ross says it came several years late. He serves a co-chairman of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of Democrats with fiscally conservative ideas.

Ross says Bush is receptive to the concerns of Democrats, including those regarding the Iraq war, earmark reform and alternative fuels. To Ross, Bush "really appeared to me he's speaking from the heart."

Ross says Bush wants to make something out of his final years of office. Ross says Bush doesn't want his last years to "be ineffective, and he still has work to be done."

2. Ross this....Ross that....
Ross seems a little too eager to believe everything bu$h tells him. Maybe Ross should get a reality check on the reliability of what comes out of president dumbfuck's mouth and hold those statements next to the realities of what he is doing. mmm.....capitulation....mmmmm

if he is still believing in *'s sincerity about anything at this point. How many times does one need to get hit upside the head to see reality?

5. So Ross apparently looked into Bush's eyes and saw his soul
and determined he was really a good man and speaks from his heart. Where have I heard something like this before? What a load of crap.

They do not get it. The Republicans will not have to lift a finger to execute their divide and conquer strategy against us. We will do all the work for them.

7. Why do I resent this? All the twists to this make me sick.
I'll just name the first thing that makes me vomit - implying that only centrist Dems are fiscally conservative. That's B.S.

8. We have listened to this B/S
for over six years now. Whether you look into Bush's eyes or examine his
asshole it is all bull shit. "Talkin' ain't doin'" To paraphrase a
Fred Allen quote. "All the sincerity in Washington D.C. you could
stuff into a Congressman's navel and still have room for a lobbyist's
heart."

10. Not just Blue Dogs asked...New Dems also.
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/742

"President Bush has invited leaders of the conservative Blue Dog and New Democrat coalitions to the White House Friday to discuss areas of “mutual cooperation” in the words of one Democratic Congressional aide."

I made a list of the two groups, put an asterisk beside the ones who are in both...I also included their incoming members likewise with asterisks if they joined both groups.

Lists of the Blue Dog and New Dem Coalitions plus new members.

Time for all Democrats to work together and for these two groups to stop thinking they are entitled.

that hurt the people, that hurt consumers. I love making lists. Don't get me started today on what they think they are entitled to....or I might get really pissed off.

When all else fails don't argue, don't present lists or names...just pick on folks.

These folks together BEGGED for the bankruptcy bill to be put up for a vote. They BEGGED Denny Hastert on bended knee.

Their rep said Bush sounded sincere? In what universe does he live now?

Yes, make it all about her, and not these fucks who want to cooperate with known criminals.

25. Why is it that they have no problem working with criminals?
Anyone saying "because they don't think he's a criminal" is just pointing out who completely clueless these idiots are.

It's a fact - and not even a contested one on the administration's part - that they have committed crimes. Yet these people want to cooperate with them. With criminals.

11. As I've said dozens of times about the DINO's
If anyone really believes that they're going to stop pandering to the far right and legitimizing and enabling their policies, they're in for a disappointment.

There are 40 or so in the house and at least half a dozen in the Senate that are going to backstab us every chance they get. The ONLY solution- and the only way to keep the majority is to organize and dump them in the primary (although, as we saw with Lieberman, that doesn't always work).

16. Is it just a PR word for that particular bunch? I'm not sure they all know what that term means.
Edited on Fri Dec-08-06 03:34 PM by w4rma
Bush is the exact opposite of a fiscal conservative.

That said, I trust 'Blue Dogs' a lot more than I trust the 'New Democrats'. Blue Dogs are usually somewhat naive. New Democrats, however, are somewhat conniving.

20. Mr. Ross: the problem is not whether W appears to speak from the heart...
It's whether he is speaking from the brain.

Bush is fully capable of believing two or more completely contradictory things at any given time. You need to figure out where those heartfelt sentiments for your agenda fit on his spectrum of priorities before you make any long-term assessment of his sincerity. Bush is a professional bullshit artist.

23. If I might bring up the big elephant in the room
Why was this meeting specifically for "centrist" or Blue Dog Democrats?

I have nothing at all against the centrists. I sometimes view myself as one, because I believe that no one party has all the answers and is right all the time.

However, I'm just really intrigued that Bush would invite the "centrist" or Blue Dogs, when other morne left-leaning Dems can't even get an audience.

For crying out loud, several years ago the Congressional Black Caucus had to get on a van, go to the White House, and threaten not to leaven until Bush met with them (regarding the situation in Haiti).

What also comes to my mind is that with the Democrats taking control in January, some of the members of the Congressional Black Caucus are scheduled to assume some very powerful committee chairmanships.

Has Bush invited Charlie Rangel (incoming Chair of Ways and Means) to the White House yet?

Has he invited Carolyn Kilpatrick, the incoming Chair of the CBC?
