Iran Offers to Help U.S. Exit From Iraq
MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) -

Iran's foreign minister delivered a blunt challenge to the United States on Saturday, saying Tehran is willing to help U.S. troops withdraw from neighboring Iraq but only if Washington makes some tough policy changes.

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki claimed U.S. troops were responsible for at least half the violence tearing apart Iraq and that their departure would pay security dividends for the entire region.

"If the United States changes its attitude, the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to help with the withdrawal from Iraq," Mottaki told the International Institute of Strategic Studies conference here. "Fifty percent of the problem of insecurity in Iraq is the presence of foreign troops."

3. These articles make it clear.....
US bases in Iraq: sticky politics, hard math

Building permanent U.S. bases in Iraq sends wrong signal
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/opinion/224055_iraqbases.html

""A January 2005 Zogby poll in Iraq found that 82 percent of Sunnis and 69 percent of Shiites favor U.S. withdrawal either immediately or after an elected government is in place. A clear majority of Iraqi voters interviewed in exit polls after the Jan. 30 elections cited their desire to see an end to the military occupation as a major impetus for voting. Building permanent bases directly violates the will of these Iraqis.""

5. That Zogby poll was back in Jan '05?
I wonder if the poll #s have changed since then. I suspect that they are a bit higher in favor of our withdrawal, quite a bit.

So if the citizens of the new Democracy of Iraq want us to leave, if most of the Iraq's neighboring countries want us to leave, if most Americans want us to leave and much of the world thinks we should leave.... do ya suppose maybe the bushcons will "study the matter", decide that polls are in error, call all disenters "terrists" or "cutnrunners" and send in more troops?

6. Now look at why the Quakers were under NSA surveillance...

they showed on their website some inconvenient facts re those permanent bases, and Bushco's police state can't handle the truth

http://www.fcnl.org/iraq/bases.htm

"If the U.S. is ultimately leaving Iraq, why is the military building 'permanent'"

Also, since 1973 the US military has had plans for seizing Saudi oil fields...these plans were merely 'tweaked' to Iraq's oil fields. We could have been trying to shift to alternative fuels since the '70s but oil lobbying and Saudi $ have prevented any sane policy moves. If God works in mysterious ways, satan has been working in invisible ways.

I suggest everyone read Lester Brown's Plan B 2.0 (readable on the web btw). We have only until 2031. Current Bush policies need changing NOW. Gore was right all along.
