CBS: Poll: Iraq Going Badly And Getting Worse (Bush Handling 21% JA 31%)

Americans believe the war in Iraq is going badly and getting worse, and think it's time for the U.S. either to change its strategy or start getting out, according to a CBS News poll.

Forty-three percent say the U.S. should keep fighting, but with new tactics, while 50 percent say the U.S. should begin to end its involvement altogether. Only 4 percent say the U.S. should keep fighting as it is doing now.

Just 21 percent approve of President Bush's handling of the war, the lowest number he's ever received, and an 8-point drop from just a month ago. Most of that drop has been among Republicans and conservatives. Three-quarters of Americans disapprove of how the president is handling Iraq.

WASHINGTON President Bush's approval rating on Iraq has slumped to a new low.
Just 27 percent of those questioned in a new A-P-Ipsos poll approve of the way he's handling the war. At the same time, dissatisfaction has climbed to an all-time high of 71 percent.

Ohio State University's John Mueller, who's an authority on presidents and public opinion, says Bush's support is continuing to erode and there no reason to think it can be turned around.

The survey was taken from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday this week and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.

The House Dems are waiting to call for impeachment so it won't look too political/partisan.

My guess is by the end of next summer, we'll hear something like, "while I know we originally said impeachment was off the table, the revelations that have come out of this investigation are stunning in the depth of their violations of both the letter and the spirit of the law. We feel that we have no choice but to consider the Constitutional obligation of impeachment."

By that time, major revelations that will shock Americans outside of DU will have Bush in the mid 20s (or lower) on the favorability scale... so, a call for impeachment will be just following the wishes of the people.

Does anyone here believe that our soldiers have a clue who they are shooting or bombing when they are doing so?

It's a simple formula really. They simply shoot at anyone who is suspected of shooting at them or making IEDS. This has to be the rule of thumb because there are no other rational criteria.

Why would people shoot at them? Because they invaded another nation under false pretexts, without lawful justification.

This Iraq study group is really a great hoax, almost as good a media ploy as weapons of mass destruction.

Job one. Secure the energy resources and take them over for corporate America. That's a truly noble cause.

this is a ground level problem that goes everywhere with US forces on the ground. I have little doubt that thousands perish because of the language problem.

Not knowing the language in a hostile environment creates a level of paranoia that is difficult to imagine. So they do shoot at families in cars who don't respond to instructions in English.

Or you could rely on your iraqi interpreter? Who does he work for? What does he know?

As one American colonel said, what these "Iraqi" forces do between 12pm and 6am is anyone's guess.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Americans have never been more pessimistic about the war in Iraq and say a change in strategy is needed, said a CBS News poll.

The poll found that 62 percent of Americans said sending troops to fight in Iraq was an error, while 34 percent still backed the decision.

According to the Gallup organization, which conducted the poll for the US television network, not even during the Vietnam conflict did so many Americans oppose the war.

Fifty-two percent said the situation in Iraq is getting worse, while just eight percent say the situation is getting better.

Only 15 percent of those polled said that the United States would win in Iraq, a new low.

Pay them off. Appeal to their greed. Pay the Sunnis, Shiites, and Kurds billions of dollars in cash to reduce the violence, form a unity government, and throw Al Qaeda out of Iraq. Make the continuing, diminishing payments contingent on measurable results. Let them decide how to accomplish the objectives. It's far cheaper than continuing the war.

Bush invaded a neutral country, why, he won't give the American people a clue. The carnage continues hourly and bush does not have a CLUE about how to end this either. How can he sit in his secluded office and let these horrific events keep occurring and not do something.

Generals, and other military individuals have told him the policy of Stay the Course, oh excuse me, Moving ahead, is not working. That we must withdraw from Iraq. His own hand picked committed have told him we must have a plan to withdraw from Iraq. Now he is gathering more advisor's, more committee members, he will continue until he gets a group of people that tell him Iraq is coming along fine.

How can this president continue to follow his failed course in Iraq, when the American people do not want this policy. I will tell you one thing, bush will follow his failed course until he gets the American people to follow and agree with him. To leave a "legacy" he is ruining this country. He is responsible for the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi, and the death of thousands of our military. He has ruined the infantries of that country, destroyed electric, clean water homes, businesses and still he forges ahead on the failed course.

He has poured trillions of our tax dollars into this failed venture. He has put this country in debt for generations to come. He has ruined the good name and reputation of this great country of ours that is going to take many many generations to repair.

I have one question. WHY, WHY IS THIS LITTLE MINDED MAN DONE AND IS STILL DOING THIS.
