Reuters: U.S. says Saudis not planning to intervene in Iraq
U.S. says Saudis not planning to intervene in Iraq
13 Dec 2006 15:36:22 GMT
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON, Dec 13 (Reuters) - The White House denied on Wednesday
that Saudi Arabia warned Washington of its intention to support Iraqi
Sunnis in the their war against the country's Shi'ites should the
United States pull out of Iraq.

"That's not Saudi government policy," White House spokesman Tony Snow
told reporters.

The New York Times reported that Saudi King Abdullah had delivered a
message to Vice President Dick Cheney during Cheney's visit to the
kingdom last month of the Saudis plans to provide financial backing
to Iraqi Sunnis if the United States withdraws.

6. So that pretty much means the Saudis WILL be intervening. I'm getting
incredibly tense and freaked out by this.

Seriously. "Support" is a nice comfy word, but what does it mean? We'll buy you a thousand guns? Here, have some shoulder missiles?

What would the goal of the Saudis be? To go into debt like the United States fighting a foreign war? Do you really think they will inconvenience themselves that much?

Do you think they want to draw the attention of the other nations in the area?

Or do they just want to toss enough money over the side of the boat to feed the circling sharks who might be clamoring that they're leaving fellow Sunnis to die?

I suspect their Iraqi Sunni support is going to be as wonderful and all-helpful as their Palestinian support. Lotta talk but don't touch the hem of my garment.

7. Typical pattern: horrible news comes out, then the WH says "no it isn't."
"We deny it." That's always their response.

There are reports all over the world that the Saudis ARE planning to intervene if necessary and told Oil Dick to his face. What is it with these guys? Is lying just too much fun to give up?
