Romney signs agreement allowing state police to detain illegals

BOSTON (AP) -- Gov. Mitt Romney, who is weighing a White House bid, signed an agreement Wednesday that allows Massachusetts State Police troopers to detain illegal aliens they encounter over the course of their normal duties.

Under the terms of the agreement, made with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, an initial group of 30 troopers will receive five weeks of specialized training next year, paid by the federal government.

The troopers will be drawn from the Violent Fugitive Apprehension Squad, the Criminal Investigation Section, the Anti-Gang Unit, the Drug Enforcement Unit and the Community Action Team.

The governor, who has been burnishing his conservative credentials in anticipation of a campaign for the 2008 Republican presidential nomination, has advocated building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border to staunch the flow of illegals into the country.

and local law enforcement usually doesn't bother, mainly because they want to maintain relationships with the community.

think of these two examples: you are an undocumented, illegal whatever immigrant. You see a violent murder. you are the only witness. If you go to the police, you will be deported. what do you do? report the crime and get deported, or simply ignore it?

example two: you are an undocumented, illegal whatever immigrant. you are violently gang raped. If you report the crime, you know the cops will ask your immigration status and then deport you. what do you do?

if you can't prove your status, you should be considered 'illegal' and enter the system. oh wait, you mean this won't apply to native-english speaking non-hispanic caucasians? oh right.

Build a wall to keep them in and out. Then try to catch the ones that are in. Then send them back out - or keep them really in by putting them in jail. Or just kill'em on the spot.

6. Golly, does this mean that the Massachuetts state

troopers will arrest Governor Mitt Romney's home gardening/lawn illegal immigrant workers? After all, these illegal immigrant workers have done Romney's lawn for the last ten or so years! Wow. Whadda guy is this Romney!
