Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 11:58 AM by Scurrilous
<snip>

"Peter Boyle, the sardonic father on TV's "Everybody Loves Raymond," has died at New York Presbyterian Hospital, his publicist says.

The 71-year-old actor died last night after a long battle with multiple myeloma and heart disease."

38. That says a lot about Boyle
and it makes the scene in X-Files when talks about gaining his pyschic ability because of Buddy Holly's death a little more poignant for me.

17. Is this the episode where Scully gets her dog?
Does Clyde have a dog? Does he die at the end and then Scully adopts the dog? Am I mixing this up with another episode?

24. it's the same episode -- Scully's neighbor
has a dog, the neighbor is part of one of Boyle's character's premonitions. Same episode, parallel storyline. Scully's neighbor dies - and Boyle's character sees how people die - Boyle sees the dog eating the neighbor b/c no one finds the neighbor for a day or so... does that help?

37. Queequeg
the lovable cannibal from Moby Dick (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queequeg)

Queequeg was actually the old neighbor lady's dog. Scully adopted him but he got eaten by a gator in a later episode.

That movie is so underrated and Boyle was terrific. He was good in every role he played, but ... he made me laugh the hardest when he sang "Puttin' on the Ritz" with Gene Wilder in "Young Frankenstein" - just thinking about that scene makes me laugh. :rofl:

The one thing I found distracting about Peter Boyle was that I could always hear the Philadelphia Catholic School system in his voice.

39. Hands down.....
the funniest scene I ever witnessed was his scene with Gene Hackman as the blind man to Peter Boyle's monster in Dr. Frankenstein. I had tears running down my cheeks (and I wasn't the only one in the midnight showing college crowd).The next day my sides were sore-that is how hard I laughed. Heartiest laugh I ever had at a movie.

:toast: and this time, you get to really drink it. Thanks for the laughs-I am sure St Peter is splitting his sides as we speak.:toast:

Boyle being taken over by the success and madness of ambition was completely believable, he just Lady Macbethed himself right into it. I'd forgotten how great he was in that film.
