Is Obama a "Marxist leftist?" (DeLay charges he is)
Is Obama a "Marxist leftist"?
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sen. Barack Obama's office is responding to charges from former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay that the Illinois Democrat is attempting to conceal his liberal views and that his record in the Senate is comparable to that of a "Marxist Leftist."

DeLay is also urging conservative bloggers to begin digging into Obama's past.

A spokesperson for the senator says voters want to "move beyond" Delay's "name-calling."

"Former Congressman DeLay's rhetoric is exactly the sort that the American people rejected so resoundingly in November," Obama spokeswoman Roberta Gibbs said in a statement. "They want us to move beyond the name-calling and slash-and-burn politics that have served this country so poorly and deal with the real challenges we face."

DeLay made the comments to a group of conservative bloggers at a weekly lunch hosted by Human Events and the Heritage Foundation, according to Robert Bluey of HumanEvents.com, who attended the meeting.

Following this week's launch of TomDeLay.com, the Texas Republican is stepping up his efforts to reach out to bloggers and grassroots activists.

DeLay also warned conservatives at the meeting that "Hillary will be the next president of the United States because have built a coalition."

A spokesperson for Sen. Clinton, D-New York, declined to comment.

Why yes, he IS!

So who gives a flying whatchamacallit what he says, other than the shrink and nurses, etc., paid to deal with his bizarre ravings?

Too much toxin accumulation from all those years killin' bugs.

At least from some of the times I've seen him on tele. He may have that "how far can we go" in him.

But for DeLay to say anything about him is nearly beyond words. Not that DeLay's words are worth much.

Edited on Wed Dec-13-06 05:43 PM by rebel with a cause
I think you are. Barrack is very cautious in his approach to things. He is a thinker. He thinks before he speaks, he thinks before he acts. He is intelligent, and although I saw him get really tired at the end of the 2004 campaign, I never saw anything aggressive in him. As far as him being manipulative, I don't think anyone can be in politics without being a little bit manipulative. It's part of the game, but here again I did not see that much of that in him either.

I could be wrong and you could be right, but I still have high regards for the man even after I was disappointed in him a few times.

46. Reply to both responses.
Exactly, he's a thinker, hence the ability to manipulate. I didn't imply evil or extreme negativity, just what I said, I sense some desire to see how far he can go, and as such am in some small doubt regarding the optimum of service within him, a selfless desire to serve others in need. Which doesn't often occur in humanity, much less in politics.

This is subtle, and is nothing in comparison to BushCo, but I to some degree see him as a creator of causes and conditions. I'm just so sick of that type that I said something, anything. I call that aggression, but it's not of the stonewalling "fuck you" BushCo variety.

I just see the optimum in humanity, and hope and wish for it to evolve soon. If I'm bitter and upset, it's from seeing how much waste there is in our personalities versus the potential to get along and be productive. Selfishness and conniving piss me off as it lowers things for everyone, and that's all such behaviours want.

Again, nowhere in the league of BushCo, but I'd prefer the Honorable Conyers to run, from what I've seen of him. I can't say that I support any other potential candidate. I want too much change to occur, and none of them seem to be interested in detaching the milindus complex from the Treasury to any extent.

seems to me that with all the offal he's pulled down upon himself recently that he would be more concerned with his upcoming trials and convictions than worrying about how someone else thinks about issues that matter the the electorate.

Obama must be doing something right to garner this much fear-based attention from Delay.

Delay's a racist- among other things. A petty, corrupt and vile individual, without a shred of honesty, integrity or decency. A person truly deserving of Texas "justice."

I'm not a Barack Obama fan- not yet at least, although when someone the likes of Tom DeLay feels the need to go out of his way to disrespect him- it makes me wonder.

32. This is the RW's concerted effort to try and tear down Obama ...
Yesterday CNN had Obama side by side with Osama.
Sent out a reporter to ask people if they thought
Obama was a threat to our way of life. Obviously
implying Osama, but because the average citizen
has no clue, they responded with the usual answer
to the Osama implication.

Then, because Obama's middle name is Hussein, CNN
had Obama side by side with Saddam Hussein.

They must be really nervous about Obama's chances of
winning in '08.

55. How scary is that?
Look, the nuts who mention McCain and Manchurian candidate in the same paragraph are properly spanked and shunned.

But the nutjobs are actually trying to put it in people's minds that Obama might possibly be a "secret" Moslem, who is faking being a Christian and is really intent on taking over the US for Islam.

They don't need "faks" - all they need to do is plant the thought, induce that frisson of discomfort that some people have around Hillary Clinton (travelgate? Whitewater? lesbianism?), Al Gore (invented the internet? discovered Love Canal?), and John Kerry (see Swiftboat Liars et al...). They don't have to raise an actual issue, they just have to start making people a smidge uncomfortable when they hear his name, and they've succeeded.

59. Delay on MSNBC
I don't know how this happened but I found myself watching Delay on MSNBC (Matthews? or was it Scarborough?)) the other night regarding his new blog... He was asked something about Obama and this disgusting smile came over his face and he said "Oh, you haven't even begun to hear about Obama's background" (or something to that effect).

When that smile was made and those words were said, it was very clear to me that Delay was already working on the smear of Barack. That didn't take long.
