AP: Bush Happy About Mary Cheney's Pregnancy
Bush Happy About Mary Cheney's Pregnancy
Dec 15

President Bush says he is happy for Mary Cheney, the openly gay daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney, who revealed earlier this month that she is pregnant.

"I think Mary is going to be a loving soul to her child," Bush said in an interview with People magazine. "And I'm happy for her."

Bush was asked about Mary Cheney's pregnancy in light of his previous statements that a child ideally should be raised by in a family headed by a married father and mother.

White House press secretary Tony Snow said on Friday that Bush has not changed his mind. "But he also believes that every human life is sacred and that every child who comes into this world deserves love," Snow said. "And he believes that Mary Cheney's child will, in fact, have loving parents."

Asked if Bush believes that children who are raised by gay and lesbian parents are at a disadvantage, Snow said, "He does not make comments on that and nor will I." Mary Cheney, 37, and her partner of 15 years, Heather Poe, 45, are expecting a baby in late spring....

1. bush thinks "every human life is sacred."
Isn't that quaint? And another lie. He's happy for Mary? What else would the liar say to People Magazine? I think he should give equal time to james dobson to ask the questions. Of course children raised by Gay parents are at a disadvantage. There is an organized movement to ensure they are at a disadvantage by those that hate them in the name of Jesus Christ.

17. I think that it's code...
"Every human life is sacred"... with an implied "as long as you're white and Christian. If you're Muslim and Iraqi, than Bush believes you deserve a cluster bomb on your head.

9. I don't know, but to give Dan Quayle some credit
He'd say it a lot more clearly than Tony Snow did! I didn't think much of Quayle, but one thing I did like about him was that he said what he was thinking, shallow though it may have been. He had a much higher level of integrity than Tony Snow and his blabbering question-dancing. That's not saying a lot, but it is saying something.

27. Hypocrisy then too...
he jumped all over 'Murphy Brown's' fictional pregnancy but so far as I recall never had a word to say about the guy who knocked her up and left for the jungles of South America so fast he broke some sound barriers... Dan saved all his disapprobation for the woman and had none to spare for the man. That's Republicanism in a nutshell(or nut case if you prefer.)

5. If every human life is sacred, Bush has a lot of explaining to do to his God
when they meet.

Bush has the blood of a lot of sacred lives on his hands.

6. Oddly enough, Bush is a liar as is Snow White.
"He continued by focusing on the "ideal in society" of children being raised by a man and a woman. "And I believe children can receive love from gay couples, but the ideal is -- and studies have shown that the ideal is where a child is raised in a married family with a man and a woman.""
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines05/0129-07.htm

It seems he has indeed made comments on that.

13. Not every child with a married father and mother is WANTED
Hello? My husband spent his entire life hearing from his married mother and father that he was unplanned and unwanted. One quote I heard from my mother-in-law, "If abortion had been legal back then, he never would have been born." He has lived with this for his whole life and I can tell you it has messed him up quite a bit.

Mary Cheney's child, on the other hand, will NEVER hear those words, "I never wanted to you", ever uttered.

There have been a couple of incidents where he's made it sound like he's claiming paternity ...

DUBYA: How's your child, April?
REPORTER: She's wonderful.
DUBYA: Georgia W?
REPORTER: My husband is watching, and the name is Ryan Tyler James.
DUBYA: You might as well turn to the camera when you say that.
-- Oddball exchange Dubya had with a female reporter that almost leaves Dubya sounding like he's trying to claim fatherhood, White House, Nov. 7, 2002

21. You think Bush would have said this before the elections in 2000, 2002, and 2004?
That would definitely clashed with Karl Rove's carefully-staged phony portrayal of Bush as Super-Duper Man of Conservative Evangelical Faith.
