Brownback Wants to Re-Question Nominee
Dec 19 1:44 PM US/Eastern

By TODD DVORAK
Associated Press Writer

DAVENPORT, Iowa

Sen. Sam Brownback, who wants to champion social conservatives in the presidential race, said Tuesday he wants a Senate panel to re-question a judicial nominee who attended a same-sex union ceremony.

Brownback, a Kansas Republican, said he wants Michigan state judge Janet Neff to testify about her role in the 2002 Massachusetts ceremony, her legal views on same-sex unions and her ability to be impartial if called upon to rule on such cases.

Neff's nomination to federal district court is among a dozen or so now stalled in the Senate, a logjam in part due to Brownback's questions about Neff's attendance at a lesbian commitment ceremony. The Senate Judiciary Committee has already approved her nomination.

Neff was traveling outside the country and could not immediately be reached for comment, said Chris Bockheim, her judicial assistant.

2. Argh! For a moment there, I thought he came to his senses.
That was too good to be true.

Now he wants to turn the Neff nomination into cheap
political theater.

6. That is exactly what he is doing.
I know Sam and I have watched his campaigns over the years and he will lie like there is no tomorrow to get his power slot. This is exactly what he is doing and he thinks this will solidify the Christian communities around him. Maybe he is right about some but I don't think that most of them want any more to do with the politicizing of religion. I could be wrong, trying to be hopeful.

4. Lynch her brownback
String her up, burn her house, kill her family. That's how you "christians" handle things huh. Can't have anyone celebrating a marriage now can we? This is the land of the free, not the land of the bible. Hate, hate, hate, its all the 21st century "christian" rage. And then there is the fake martyrdom that goes on incessantly. Keep the fucking bible out of our constitution you fucking zealots.

5. What a twit.
But since I live in the state he "represents" ( :puke: ) that's not news to me.

Last I heard, our other senator, Pat Roberts (R-Fuckhead) has endorsed John McCain as the Reich-wing candidate.

A BIG snub of Tali-bornagain mullah and GOP '08 hopeful Brownback, eh?

And from his own KS senate colleague, no less...

Talk about not having a date for the prom.

7. That made my morning
Hopefully, Kansans are finally waking up and smelling the coffee. This dalliance with fundamentalism has cost the state its reputation.
