NASHVILLE, Tenn. A spokeswoman for the mayor said a transformer exploded near the Nashville courthouse
causing the building to be evacuated.
Spokeswoman Molly Sudderth said it was unknown where anyone was injured in the explosion, but there wasn't any damage to the building.
She said the transformer was located underground outside of the courthouse.

Five taken to hospitals after electrical mishap at Historic Courthouse
Five people have been transported to area hospitals, including two in critical condition, after what appears to have been an electrical explosion at the Historic Courthouse in downtown Nashville.
The injured were believed to be Nashville Electric Service workers, fire department spokesman Charles Shannon said.
The explosion was reported shortly before 10 a.m. at the courthouse, which is currently undergoing renovations and was expected to reopen for business in February.
Traffic was shut down adjacent to the courthouse, including the nearby James Robertson Bridge.
Emergency crews also were preparing to cut power to the nearby A.A. Birch Courthouse, potentially shutting down operations in that building and affecting the movement of Metro jail prisoners.
