Dozens Killed In Baghdad Car Bombs

At least 25 people have been killed in a series of co-ordinated car bomb attacks in Baghdad, according to reports. Another 55 people were injured in the blasts, which happened in a mixed Sunni and Shi'ite area near a bus station. More to follow...

At least 14 people have been killed and dozens wounded in car bomb attacks in the south-west of the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, officials say.

Earlier, the US military in Iraq said three of its soldiers had been killed in a bomb explosion.

A fourth soldier was wounded in the attack, north-west of the capital.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- A high-ranking Iraqi interior ministry official was shot dead and a trade official was kidnapped, while explosions killed at least 23 people and wounded 105 others Tuesday morning, according to interior ministry and police sources.

Earlier in the day, three U.S. soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb blast northwest of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

Major General Imad Mohsen Jaafar, Iraq's border crossing director, was killed when unidentified attackers sprayed his car with bullets as he drove down a northern Baghdad street, an interior ministry official said.

The Iraqi trade ministry's director of the Baghdad international fair, identified as Muhanad Saleh, was taken hostage by another group of gunmen in western Baghdad Tuesday morning, the ministry official said.
