Bushes put in armored car for tornado warning
Edited on Fri Dec-29-06 04:45 PM by Cooley Hurd
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16396938/

CRAWFORD, Texas - President Bush and first lady Laura Bush were moved to an armored vehicle on their ranch Friday during a tornado weather alert.

The vehicle was driven to a tornado shelter on the ranch, and the president, his wife and their two dogs sat inside until the weather cleared, deputy White House press secretary Scott Stanzel said. They were never moved into the shelter, he said.

Or any kind of cellars, for that matter. In my area, the bedrock's only about 5 feet down.

Edited on Fri Dec-29-06 09:41 PM by ShortnFiery
Our storm cellars were closer than the barn. What's up with this so called "RANCH" that the storm cellar is a *short drive* away? Why do you think they call it a "storm cellar"? My point: It shouldn't be a drive away unless it was an after thought, i.e., another bunker for the chicken-sh*ts to protect their Dear Leader.

81. It's actually a first aid center
probably one of many positioned strategically around the ranch so Bush can be rushed there within minutes if there is an emergency, like if he hurt himself while cutting brush, while wrecking his bike or choking on a pretzel.

No doubt he the doors to each facility were specially made from endangered hardwood and each have individually crafted presidential seals on them so Bush will recognize them. :grr:

One tornado spotted near me a quarter mile wide. mother and children were rescued in what was left of their house, etc..Ive been thru one, dont care for another!
This is supposed to last allll afternoon too. Shelter? Ha! We get a choice of laying flat on the ground, or the trailer we are in if it gets worse. Tho I may head to the hospital basement, if there's time. These boogars are going really fast, about 45mph.

37. I didn't know that about Texas.
In Missouri and Kansas most people try to buy houses w/ basements because of tornado season. I just figured it was the same in Texas.

I'd be tempted to dig a shelter in the offseason. (Though I know many cannot do that.)

38. Bush driven to ranch's tornado shelter

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/122906dnmetwx.5913a262.html

President Bush and first lady Laura Bush were moved to an armored vehicle on their ranch when a tornado warning was issued in central Texas, the White House said.

The vehicle was driven to a tornado shelter on the ranch, and the president, Mrs. Bush and their two dogs sat inside until the weather cleared, deputy White House press secretary Scott Stanzel said. They were never moved into the shelter, he said.

64. The dots on that map could be from a
Twilight Zone episode...

or a Sf movie starring any one of a hundred stars from the 70's.

88. Clearing cedar?
Why the heck does he need to "clear" cedar trees? They're not exactly weeds or nuisance plants. Apparently he's spent so much time chewing up the brush with a chain saw during his umpty dozen vacations, he's run out. Now he's reduced to destroying cedar trees. One can only hope he went wild chopping up the dead Christmas tree from the living room rather than cutting down a living tree just to give himself something to do. Blech.

Except they probably have people come in and do anything that really needs to be done.

84. Jarrell Texas in central Tx had a F4 or 5 that killed over 2 dozen
people in 1997. Horrible situation. Jarrell is about 40 miles north of Austin. Not that close to Crawford, bt I wold think that Crawford wold be prone to the same kind of weather developments.

85. Flying Monkey Headed Toward Oz? All the rest of you Texans -- stay safe.
I don't think DUers are being callous toward other mortals -- I think more likely we've just been imagining a very (shall we say) *targeted* tornado strike, and finding that amusing. Only one house in Crawford needs to blow skyward -- surely God doesn't wipe out whole cities any more to get rid of a few evildoers, does he?

Hekate

86. Yo-e-o, Yo Rum....
I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog(s) too!

And oh, what happened then was rich.
*The house began to pitch. The kitchen took a slitch.
It landed on the Wicked Witch in the middle of a ditch,
Which was not a healthy situation for the Wicked Witch.
*The house began to pitch. The kitchen took a slitch.
It landed on the Wicked Witch in the middle of a ditch,
Which was not a healthy situation for the Wicked Witch.
... Who began to twitch and was reduced to just a stitch of what was once the Wicked Witch.

If I were King of the Forest, Not queen, not duke, not prince.
My regal robes of the forest, would be satin, not cotton, not chintz.
I'd command each thing, be it fish or fowl.
With a woof and a woof and a royal growl - woof.
As I'd click my heel, all the trees would kneel.
And the mountains bow and the bulls kowtow.
And the sparrow would take wing - If I - If I - were King!
Each rabbit would show respect to me.
The chipmunks genuflect to me.
Though my tail would lash, I would show compash
For every underling!
If I - If I - were King! (Yeah, right!)

Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.
Wake up - sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. She's gone where the goblins go,
Below - below - below. Yo-ho, let's open up and sing and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong' the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.
Let them know
The Wicked Witch is dead!

As Mayor of the Munchkin City, In the County of the Land of Oz, I welcome you most regally.
But we've got to verify it legally, to see
To see?
If she
If she?
Is morally, ethic'lly
Spiritually, physically
Positively, absolutely
Undeniably and reliably Dead
As Coroner I must aver, I thoroughly examined her.
And she's not only merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead.
Then this is a day of Independence For all the Munchkins and their descendants
If any.
Yes, let the joyous news be spread The wicked Old Witch at last is dead!

Somewhere, over the rainbow, skies are blue.
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.

OK, King of the Flying Monkeys, you got the Witch. Now can you send someone out shoe shopping so we can get the *$)Q_ home?????? CLICK, CLICK, CLICK - There's no place like home!

87. A tornado would pick that armored vehicle and flip it in the air.
Tornados can blow locomotives off their tracks with ease, and they weight far more than an armored vehicle.

Being inside a vehicle during a tornado warning is the worst place to be!

Poor Barney and Mizbeasley.

90. Give bush and laura shelter in the Baghdad town square
I am sure the Iraqi people will protect george and laura from any and all tornado's.
Next time air force one, and as a tax payer I don't mind paying to transport george and laura to the town square in Baghdad.
Would love to see the Iraqi's shower them with candy(anthrax) and flowers(daisy cutters)!
