Saddam's body flown to hometown-lawyer says
DUBAI, Dec 30 (Reuters) - The body of Saddam Hussein was flown on board a U.S. plane to his family hometown of Tikrit on Saturday after it was handed over to tribal leaders for burial, a defence lawyer said.

Lebanese lawyer Bushra al-Khalil told Reuters the body of the former leader who was hanged at dawn for crimes against humanity was now in Tikrit.

A senior Iraqi government source confirmed to Reuters that Saddam's body was being given to the head of his Albu Nasir tribe and would be taken to his native Salahaddin province for burial.

Khalil said Saddam's daughter Raghd, in exile in Jordan, was in contact with her family's tribal leaders on a safe burial location either in the family cemetery in Awja, a village near Tikrit, or in the Sunni insurgent stronghold of Ramadi, 110 km (70 miles) west of Baghdad.

2. It was posted here earlier that Iraqi officials said the body wasn't
going to be released to the family, that it would be buried in an undisclosed location.

Which is true???

Iraqis attend viewing at Saddam's grave

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Thousands of Iraqis flocked to Saddam Hussein's hometown of Ouja on Sunday, where the deposed leader was buried in a religious compound 24 hours after his execution.

Dozens of relatives and other mourners, some of them crying and moaning, attended the interment shortly before dawn near Tikrit, 80 miles north of Baghdad. A few knelt before his flag-draped grave. A large framed photograph of Saddam was propped up on a chair nearby.

Police on Saturday blocked the entrances to Tikrit and said nobody was allowed to leave or enter the city for four days. Despite the security precaution, gunmen took to the streets, carrying pictures of Saddam, shooting into the air and calling for vengeance.

Um Abdullah, a Sunni and teacher in Tikrit, said she would wear black to mourn the city's favorite son.

"Saddam will be a hero in our eyes," she said. "I have five kids and I will teach them to take revenge on Americans."

3. Funny, Bush pays for the war, trial, and burial, and has the balls to say that
the US is only an 'observer' of the Saddam trial and execution.

4. Al Jazeera reports he was buried in Awja
Saddam buried in Awja

Relatives of the former Iraqi president say Saddam Hussein has been buried in a family plot in Awja, close to Tikrit.

An earlier family statement issued on Saturday night said the executed leader would be buried in Ramadi, but the authorities there said they were unaware of any plan to bury him there.

Early on Sunday morning, a tribal chief said Saddam had been buried in Awja.

Ali al-Nida, head of the Albu Nasir tribe, told journalists that the burial had taken place at 4am in a family plot in Awja, the village of Saddam's birth.

9. The burial ceremony will become an anti-US rally party
Suggestion - drop a bomb on it during the middle of the session. Lots of terrorists will be killed.
