Iraq: Iran wants understanding with U.S.

BEIRUT, Lebanon, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- The Iraqi president says Iranian leaders told him they are ready to reach an understanding with the United States over Afghanistan, Iraq and Lebanon.

The London-based al-Hayat, also printed in Beirut, Friday quoted President Jalal Talabani as saying during his recent visit to Tehran he discussed American-Iranian dialogue and they "expressed their readiness to meet with the Americans. But they also want the Americans to show readiness as well to discuss the security of Iraq and resolve other issues."

He told the Saudi-financed daily in an interview from Damascus the Iranian officials "showed flexibility in this regard and they said they are prepared to reach an understanding with America over Afghanistan and Lebanon, and are ready to reach results that satisfy both sides."

Talabani noted during a visit to Iran last year, Iran agreed to hold a three-way meeting with U.S. officials and Tehran's condition was these talks remain secret. "But the Iranians cancelled the meeting because U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced it in Congress," he explained.

3. If Iran wants to beat these...
...warmongering, anti-American fascists at their own game--they will spread far and
wide how much they want diplomacy.

I'm so sick of these murderous, treasonous bastards in our government---launching
a war when the mood strikes them. I'm sick of their perverse plans. They hate
America, and they're going to destroy out country.

They must be stopped.

Washington 'snubbed Iran offer'

Iran offered the US a package of concessions in 2003, but it was rejected, a senior former US official has told the BBC's Newsnight programme.

Tehran proposed ending support for Lebanese and Palestinian militant groups and helping to stabilise Iraq following the US-led invasion.

Offers, including making its nuclear programme more transparent, were conditional on the US ending hostility.

But Vice-President Dick Cheney's office rejected the plan, the official said.

The offers came in a letter, seen by Newsnight, which was unsigned but which the US state department apparently believed to have been approved by the highest authorities.

6. does this "agreement" sound anything like...
Iran will pursue its nuclear program, continue to fund terrorism, and enjoy talks around the campfire about how Jews are the sons of pigs and monkeys and should be driven into the sea?

Two wrongs don't make a right, nor does it do anything to absolve Iran of its less than stellar motives. Iran was a piece of shit before we set foot on Iraqi soil.
