El Modena H.S. Principal To Be Arraigned On Lewd Conduct Charge
Edited on Tue Jan-30-07 10:37 AM by mikelgb
FULLERTON, Calif. -- El Modena High School Principal Brent Bailey is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on a charge of lewd conduct in a public place stemming from an arrest by undercover police during a vice "sting" operation in a Fullerton park, officials said.

One Los Angeles station reported that the charge involved an activity with another male, older than 18 years of age.

Bailey, 56, will face a judge on the misdemeanor charge at the Fullerton Justice Center, said Susan Schroeder of the Orange County District Attorney's Office.

Bailey, the Orange school's principal the past two years, was arrested during a sting operation Dec. 27 about 2:30 p.m. at Brea Dam Recreational Area at North Harbor Boulevard and Mesa Drive, said Fullerton police Sgt. Linda King.

lol this guy was my Vice-Principal at Orange High School and he ran a CHURCH on CAMPUS during the weekends. Another one bites the dust.

Although I don't quite agree with the way he was set up by my local Fullerton PD.....

The Gay-Straight Alliance

In 1999, when the Gay-Straight Alliance Club applied to be a recognized student club, the board of the Orange Unified School District denied the application. The board demanded that the club change its name and agreed to limitations on speech of the club members. The club and Anthony Colín, the club's founder, sued the district in federal court based on the Equal Access Act (Colín v. Orange Unified School District, No. SA CV 99-1461).

In February 2000, the judge for the case issued a preliminary injunction ordering the district to allow the club to meet while the lawsuit was pending. In September 2000, the board settle the lawsuit out of court by agreeing to adopt new rules governing student clubs. The Gay-Straight Alliance gained the same rights as any other campus club, was allowed to keep their name, and had no restrictions on their speech. <2> <3>

3. For my list
Is it fair to categorize this guy as a Republican/conservative? I need to know so I can add him to a list I'm keeping of right-wing perverts and hypocrites.

4. Another thing about this school
It made the news last year when a student was murdered in some sort of gang-related love triangle.

9. Liberals don't hold church services in a public school.
It's only so-called "conservatives" who don't "believe" in the separation of Church and State.

7. I graduated from El Modena High School in 1977...
I grew up in Orange, California and went to El Modena High School from 1975 to 1977. It sits between the mostly conservative, white city of Orange, and the almost entirely Mexican-American unincorporated area of El Modena. There was kind of an uneasy mix of whites and Mexicans there, but no real problems. The classes were well-integrated but the 2 races seemed to keep to themselves socially. The atmosphere was homophobic, as this was the 1970s and attitudes were different then towards gays/lesbians. Nobody was "out." It was a good high school, though, a lot of interesting, intelligent, open-minded teachers. It was strange to hear about the gay group controversy there a few years back and now this.

10. Yes it is true...
Brent... known to myself as PASTOR Brent, was in fact a Pastor at a Church, at Orange High School.
For those that care- and wish to give the religion a bad name or judge, it was a Friends/Quaker Christian.
Eventually, over time, the Church went under- NOT due to anything on Pastor Brent's side.
In my experience with him, he was a fantastic gentleman who was ALWAYS happy and smiling.
He loved his life, his family, and his church more than anything.

I had the rare experience of being close with his family...
I of course have not had contact with any of them in years, but he was a very loving man who would do anything for anyone.

Don't know where things went wrong, but its a shame.

13. Yes, welcome.
I went to a service once with my best friend because we wanted to see our other friend who played in the church band. But I did not remember much about the church.

Personally I had few run-ins with Mr. Bailey while I attended OHS. I had many friends with very negative views and bad experiences. But maybe that is the byproduct of his role as a diciplianrian...

anyway sucks to be him right now

I am just weirded out by how this story touched me in two ways:

I knew him and lived in Orange and now I live in Fullerton right by where the incident happened and even closer to the courtroom he is in right now.
