BBC: Iranians sought for B Aires bomb
Last Updated: Thursday, 15 March 2007, 15:29 GMT

Iranians sought for B Aires bomb

Interpol says it is planning to seek the arrest of six Iranian former
officials whom Argentina blames for the 1994 bombing of a Jewish centre.

But it has decided to turn down arrest requests for three others named
by Argentina, including former Iranian President Ali Akbar Hashemi
Rafsanjani.

The attack on a seven-storey building in Buenos Aires killed 85 people.

Argentina's investigation concluded that Iran had ordered the bombing.
The country denies any involvement.

Interpol, the international police agency, considered written and oral
presentations from both Iran and Argentina before making its decision.

Interpol Seeks 6 in Argentine Attack

Interpol plans to issue international requests for the arrest of five
prominent Iranians and a Lebanese militant in connection with the 1994
bombing of a Jewish cultural center in Argentina, the international
police agency said Thursday.

Interpol turned down Argentina's request for help in the arrests of
three other former top Iranians, including former President Hashemi
Rafsanjani.

Iran has denied any involvement in the bombing and said it would oppose
any attempt to detain Iranian citizens. Both countries are members of
Lyon, France-based Interpol.

Interpol said it would issue "red notices" for the Iranians on March 31
unless either Iran or Argentina appeals the decision. In that case, none
would be issued and the matter could go before Interpol's general
assembly in November.

A "red notice" is an Interpol request that a wanted person be arrested
with a view to extradition.

1. Nothing like the Brits stirring the pot in wake of sanctions against Iran.
Piss poor timing but dutiful to our Unitary Executive.

How about we have the thugs QUESTION our #1 Terrorist KSM? I'm sure he'll cop to that crime also.
