Anti-war activists descend on WA Senate

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Peace activists filled the state Senate galleries Thursday and started chanting "impeach" after three senators stood and spoke about the Iraq war.

Sen. Eric Oemig, D-Kirkland, was the first to speak. He had introduced a resolution earlier this session that asked Congress to investigate the Bush administration's handling of the Iraq war and possibly consider impeachment of the president and vice president.

"I would never trust this president with the life of my son," Oemig said. "How can I trust him with the lives of my neighbors' kids?"

... State Republican Party Chairman Luke Esser issued a statement earlier in the day suggesting "Democrats in Olympia need a geography lesson. This is Washington state, not Washington D.C."
