L.I. Residents Protest After Mayor's Racist Rant

(CBS) MANORHAVEN, N.Y. A Long Island mayor is in some serious hot water over an apparent racist rant about his own town that just-so-happened to be recorded on tape, and on Tuesday residents held a rally calling for his removal.

The mayor in question, Nicholas Capozzi, is the four-term mayor of Manorhaven, a seaside village in Long Island's upscale town of North Hempstead located on the island's North Shore.

In the conversation, the mayor can be heard complaining about the village's growing Hispanic population.

"The Spaniolis are rolling all over the place. They rent out the place and put locks on every door. It's gotta stop," he said.
