Disney Channel Horror
Source: CBS4

(CBS4) NEW JERSEY Many New Jersey residents watching the Disney Channel Tuesday morning were outraged after the family-friendly programming turned into a pornographic display.

Jennie Sherman still can't believe what happened while she was watching the show "Handy Manny" with her two twin sons.

"We were just sitting here and the screen just froze and then all of a sudden I saw very graphic pornography on the television and I scrambled to get the remote to shut it off," Sherman told WCBS-TV in New York City.

Sherman said she immediately recorded the X-rated graphic video on her DVR. She then e-mailed wcbstv.com to report the shocking news.

1. Scary? What's so scary about people having consensual sex?
Now inappropriate for young viewers...yes. Just as it is rather hilarious.

Edited on Wed May-02-07 12:25 PM by Atman
She actually seems to go out of her way to find things to "trip" over at places like Wal Mart and Home Depot and such, then she'll spend an hour in the manager's office threatening law suits until she gets a nice gift certificate or some sort of apology. She seems to just be waiting for her big "payday."

Sheesh. Some people.

5. Here is another Source of info too...
http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,21658704-952,00.html

<snip>

CHILDREN in New Jersey asked awkward questions when a cable TV company broadcast hard-core porn instead of a Disney cartoon.

<snip>

"It was two people doing their thing, it was full-on and it was disgusting," said Dunleavy, who asked that his son not be named. "It wasn't something you'd expect to see on Cinemax, never mind Disney."

<snip>

I just can't get over the idea of porn on Disney. :rofl:

I have those programs, parent controlled, but
when the guide is displayed, some of the program
names can be suggestive as well. And you can't

mine allows that, under "parental controls", you have the option to block adult titles. they simply appear on the program guide as "adult title".

31. that makes sense. Disney is an easy target for something like this.
Disney... who's spent probably billions of dollars on building a wholesome, family friendly image to the point that most people automatically accept anything Disney does as 'safe' for the family. So to juxtapose Disney's image with pron is just too easy to do. It shocks all the puritan's in the world, grabs immediate attention, and generates instantaneous news. Its a win-win for attention seekers. Play with a couple of wires in the cable system and poof! Instant 'for the children' shouting will commence, spokespeople will trot out and crow about this and that, and then you've got a media circus.

You can turn the TV off and then on your remote hit record and then select and your DVR will begin recording; at least you can on my Dish Network DVR.

In general I don't think the SNAFU was horrible; if someone decided to sue and I was on the jury I would award them ten dollars off their cable bill.

At the end of the article, she says she's afraid to turn on the TV. Great! Maybe her kids will now spend less time vegetating in front of the boob-tube and more time playing outside... you know interacting with other kids... learning social interaction... learning to be engaged in their world... creative play... independent thought... and so many other things the TV deprives people of.

46. My thought also. And maybe the kids will figure out that Love isn't just songs& instant attractions
leading to happily ever after but can include sex. I hate the Disney bs-they took one look and it was love!No, it was hormonally driven lust. "Love" takes a while to develop. And no, the only people to "fall in love with" are not just beauty pagent males/females but normal people too. And no, happily ever after doesn't mean always peace and bliss but hard work.

Shut the tv off, don't turn it on is good also.

But when people can make such a display of distaste over a natural sexual act while allowing the every day violence that can also be found on the Disney Channel, I seriously question the choice of disgust. Why should people be more disgusted of the act of pro creation than violence against other human beings either in action or ill placed humor?

48. Meanwhile back at the Comcast office
some poor guy is trying to figure out how to explain that he didnt' know the tape was being broadcast. Not the first time this has happened. A few years ago somebody at a station in (I think) Miami tossed a porn tape into a VCR after the station went off the air, only to find out he'd sent it out over the air.

64. heheheheheh
While I can see it being an 'innocent' mistake of that nature (and 'innocent' mistakes aside, it takes a lot of guts to watch a porno VCR tape at work), you would think their system would be set up specifically to prevent such 'innocent' mistakes...

Cable giant Comcast is investigating how the porn was broadcast during the popular cartoon, which is about a bilingual handyman, Manny Garcia, and his talking tools.

Best part is I'm watching Handy Manny now and the tools are talking about Manny's Birthday.

93. My daughters love "Handy Manny".
I would not know what to say if a porno came on while we were watching that. Ummm....Still at almost 3 and almost 2 I don't think the girls would have understood it anyways. By the way, Manny is a repair man and a great role model. Imagine, a hardworking likable friendly responsible hispanic man on t.v. Disney does some stuff wrong but I really like this show. It introduces lots of Spanish words without being annoying (Dora kills me, so repetitive).

106. disney channel is cable, not broadcast
it's part of the cable package she pays for, not beamed out for free from a tower... therefore, her problem is with her cable provider, not Disney.
