Plan Puts Only Sunni Terrorists in Crosshairs of the Iraqi Army
Source: NY Sun

With the new Baghdad security plan just getting started, American military advisers here say the list of targets issued to local commanders comprises almost exclusively Sunni terrorists, not Shiite militias.

The targets for military action are drawn up every Sunday by the Iraqi military's chief of staff, Lieutenant General Aboud Qanbar, a close ally of Prime Minister al-Maliki, in conjunction with the American adviser, Brigadier General John Campbell. While lawyers oversee the process, the choice of targets is affected by intelligence reports, which depend largely on Shiite sources, according to Major Philipak.

"The intelligence agencies who are developing the targets … are Shia," the major said. "We have not detected they are sectarian or have an ulterior motive. Their sources generating the intelligence tend to be Shia, and they have a great deal of fear that targeting Shia militias will get them killed."

"We first suspected in the middle of April, when we received a target list from Baghdad Operations Command that had 42 targets and all were Sunni, even though we operate in a battle space where 40% of our population is Shia," the commander of the military transition team, Major Chris Norrie, said.

6. You got it.
We're being used by the Shiites to assault the Sunnis with our advanced weaponry.

If we left they would have to fight the Sunnis themselves, which would be a much fairer fight.

5. Same thing happened in Afghanistan. Warlords would say rival warloards worked with Bind Laden, etc.
Their rivals would get bombed.

8. This was a key failing of Operation Together Forward.
The Iraqi government is not trying to stop the civil war
as much as win it for the Shi'ite factions. The government
and the Iraqi security forces simply cannot be trusted to
protect Iraqis from the Shi'ite militias.

The "surge" has failed in its most important mission just
like the previous crackdowns did.

9. Do they consider those resisting occupation to be "terrorists"?
Worse, are only one religious sect of those resisting occupation considered "terrorists" while the other is only considered "militias?"

Finally, do these definitions change every Sunday?

Examining this kind of article yields some incredible things about the corporate media, the PNAC control of the public mind, and the use of the words "terrorism" and "terror."
