USS Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group Headed Home

The nearly 6,000 sailors aboard ships of the Norfolk-based USS Eisenhower Strike Group are through the Suez Canal and headed for home.

That ends the group’s deployment to the 5th Fleet area, which includes the Arabian Gulf, Red Sea, Gulf of Oman and parts of the Indian Ocean.

Making up the group are USS Eisenhower, USS Anzio, USS Mason, USS Ramage and air wing CVW 7, and embarked Destroyer Squadron.

Replacing the Ike group will be USS Nimitz, which will join USS John C. Stennis Strike Group in the region.

2. Not if the Stennis is a carrier, just guessing.

Looks like the Nemitz sp?, and Stennis are carriers. If the Eisenhower drags its rudder on it's way out this could not be good. Got my tinfoil out and wrapping.

4. Normal carrier rotation
Ike will return, stand down, then proceed to work up again. Such is the way of naval aviation. And the predictions of an April invasion of Iran seem to have been forgotten by "the experts" that predicted it.

5. Just wait until it rotates back to the Gulf. The predictions will
begin again. I have no idea when that will be, but let me be the first to predict a July 4th attack on Iran. ;)

7. Invading Iran has been "leaked" since *last* May
I theorize that people in the Pentagon have been leaking plans to reporter Sy Hersch as a means of forestalling an attack against Iran.

10. I doubt they'll start a conflict during a very hot Gulf summer.
I think we can worry a bit less, until we reach October-November. That's when the window "reopens".

13. OMG - We're going to nuke Egypt! War for sure! Take shelter! Flee the country!
Just a test of the Bomb Iran (Again) Warning System. If this had been an actual nuclear war . . .
