Perle: Tenet trying to shift blame for 9/11
POSTED: 7:40 p.m. EDT, May 4, 2007

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Richard Perle said Friday that former CIA Director George Tenet is attempting to "shift blame" for his failure to anticipate the September 11, 2001, attacks and recognize the threat terrorists posed to the United States.

The former assistant secretary of defense, singled out in Tenet's book for immediately linking former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein with the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, disputed Tenet's recollection.

"He simply makes up things I never said and places them on a date I wasn't even in the country," Perle said on CNN's "The Situation Room."

In Tenet's book about his tenure at the CIA, "At the Center of the Storm," he writes that the day after the 9/11 attacks, Perle told him, "Iraq has to pay the price for what happened. They bear responsibility."

13. If you know the history, you know that Richard Perle makes Tenet look like Ghandi.
Perle personifies evil. No hard time picking here at all.

19. Agreed
"If we just let our vision of the world go forth, and we embrace it entirely and we don't try to piece together clever diplomacy, but just wage a total war ... our children will sing great songs about us years from now."

17. I agree
I still think if Tenet truly regrets this, he should give his Medal of Freedom back.

2. Call them both before Congress and let them tattle on each other.
The truth outs. They were all in it together. They are all guilty of war crimes.

3. Okay, here's the choice. Liar/Traitor #1 vs Liar/Traitor #2.
What a selection to chose from.

They're both guilty in my eyes.

5. Perle is a war criminal and traitor.
There will be no justice until he is in prison for his crimes against humanity.

Tenet deserves prison time himself for his role in launching an unjustified war of aggression.

7. Just out of curiosity, was Michael Ledeen also in France that day?
Maybe they were lunching with Larry Franklin and Manucher Ghorbanifar?

Just a hunch.

"we would be justified in concluding that Saddam was probably involved in the September 11, 2001, attacks as well."

20. Tenet's a jerk, Perle is a loathsome worm. Lock 'em away together.
Both of them have blood on their hands, and they are enablers of the most venal administration in history. Perle is probably the worst of the two, but that's like picking your roommate between the choice of Jeffrey Dahmer and Vlad the Impaler.

The funny thing is, as bad as they are, you can always find someone worse. . .
