McCain criticizes Clinton's Iraq move

By MARTIN GRIFFITH, Associated Press Writer 25 minutes ago

RENO, Nev. - Republican Sen. John McCain (news, bio, voting record) criticized Democratic Sen.
Hillary Rodham Clinton's move to repeal congressional authorization for the
Iraq war, saying it's "the worst possible idea that anybody could have."

Speaking to reporters after a town hall meeting Saturday in Reno, McCain said the new war strategy announced by
President Bush in January is beginning to show "some success" and should be given a chance to succeed.

"I think it's a bad idea for us to again tie up the United States Senate in something that won't be successful," McCain said. "I think it again perhaps will send the wrong signal to our men and women who are trying to succeed over there.

"I just think it's the worst possible idea that anybody could have," he added. "I'll do everything in my power to see that it doesn't succeed."

1. You'll do everything in your power?
What, like set up a lemonade stand? Nobody likes you anymore, John.

2. If McCain says
"it's the worst possible idea that anybody could have" it probably has merit and should be given serious consideration.

4. Can we assume that McCain would have also opposed repeal of the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution?
Can we also dare say that McCain is unhappy that only 59,000 GIs died in Vietnam, and that if he had his druthers he would have kept the war going until final victory, or until we ran out of black marble to engrave the names of the fallen?

8. I think we can only assume exactly that.
Apparently the only way to lose the Vietnam war was to leave. Strategic stalemate is apparently quite acceptable. Then and now.

6. He'll probably accuse her...
...of being a flip-flopper just because her vote is different now than it originally was. Can't anybody change their minds?

7. McCain Appeared to Swing Voters before but now just sounds like.....
......a Bushbot.

After all the Bush/Rove/Cheney folks to smear this man, you would think he could think independently.

9. Golly Senator McCain; do you think she cares what you think?
Nothing the Republicans have done (which is next to nothing) has worked; but they enjoy trying to tell
a Democrat what to do.
:eyes:
